The property is in the RMH-A zone and unlike most in this zone, the width is 43'-10". This yeilds a sideyard requirement of 4'-4". The existing single-story dwelling rests 3'-l1" from the east property line and we wish to add a second level above this wall, hence this request. This waiver would allow the owners to keep the layout and rooms along the east and add directly atop of this wall Allowing this serves three goals. First, this waiver would save the owners from the expense of either moving the existing wall or adding more structural members if the upper floor did not stack on the wall below. Secondly, and I believe more importantly, the architectural character of the home would be lost if we were required to step the secnd floor wall back. This feature is not in character with the New England farmhouse style the owners wished to have. Third, is the fact that we are asking for 5" or less than 10 % deviation of the required sideyard setback. Thank you for your prompt consideration in this matter.
