(representing a 2.4 percent increase over the existing lot coverage of
51 percent).

To Whom It May Concern:
We have met several times with Mike and Joyce Hoskinson regarding their planned remodel at
829 Main Street in Huntington Beach, discussing several topics including size, scale, and
window placement. Mike and Joyce have compromised on several details that were of concern
to us, and we are very comfortable with their existing plan. In particular, we approve of the
window placements and overall size of the planned structure. We also appreciate the fact that
Mike and Joyce are staying true to the architectural style of the original house and the character
of the neighborhood.
We appreciate the fact that Mike and Joyce have been sensitive to our needs and to how their
remodel would affect their neighbors. Their approach, which involved coming to us to discuss
the project in the early planning stages and being open to compromises, should be a model for
other homeowners. This open approach could eliminate much of the difficulties and negative
feelings often associated with home remodeling projects.
