Narrative
California Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy, Inc. ("Cal Rehab") has a more than 20 year history
in the city of Huntington Beach as a leader of therapeutic services. Cal Rehab currently offers an
extensive array of services ranging from conservative therapy to post-surgical rehabilitation.
These services include spinal and extremity rehabilitation, TMJ-facial pain therapy, sports
performance enhancement programs at all levels, soft-tissue treatment, custom orthotics, and
ergonomic assessment.
At the proposed new location at 6930 Warner Avenue in Huntington Beach, Cal Rehab will
expand its focus to include sports fitness programs consisting of individual exercise programs,
golf fitness training, multi-sport training, agility exercise, pilates, and yoga. The new location
will consist of approximately 1,972 s.f. dedicated to traditional physical therapy and
approximately 3,737s.f. dedicated to personal enrichment (see attached space plan). Hours of
operation are from lam to 7pm, Monday through Friday. There are currently 12 full-time and 7
part-time employees.
The reason for initiating the application is to obtain an Administrative Permit for the personal
enrichment area of our proposed new location. The space is located within a commercial retail
center and is surrounded by other commercial retail centers in all directions. The population
served by the proposed use are residents of Huntington Beach.

This letter is to notify you that Alan Vogel, owner of California Rehabilitation and Sports
Therapy in Huntington Beach, is proposing to relocate his physical therapy office and open a
physical therapy and sports training practice at 6930 Warner Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA.
Pursuant to Section 241.24 of the Huntington Beach Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance, the
Neighborhood Notification process is required. You may review the proposed plans at the
Planning Department, 2000 Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA, from March 4 to March 17,
2010, or contact the Planning Department at (714) 536-5271. All comments must be submitted
to the Planning Department prior to the expiration date for review of the proposal.
Under the provisions of the Huntington Beach Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance, the action
taken by the Director of Planning becomes final, unless appealed. A person desiring to appeal
the decision shall file a written notice of appeal with the Planning Department within ten
calendar days of the date of the Planning Department's action. The notice of appeal shall include
the name and address of the appellant, the decision being appealed, and the basis for the appeal.
A filing fee shall also accompany the notice of appeal. The appeal fee is $494.00. The appeal
period starts at the end of the 10-day review period.
