Ours is a new business and it is critical to our success that people traveling through the
area are able to easily locate our restaurant. The building sits back on the property
compared to the surrounding structures. It is impossible to see it from either direction on
Warner until you are almost directly in front of it particularly for west bound traffic. The
existing pole sign (formerly Baja Willies) is visible from the intersection of Beach
Boulevard north bound traffic allowing further exposure for our new business location. A
monument sign will not be visible from Beach or even from several vantage points on Warner
that the current pole sign affords us. This would put us at a competitive disadvanta e with
other restaurants in the area. Our location is only half a block from Beach Boulevard where
the sign code allows pole signs such as ours.
> 2. The sign will not adversely affect other lawfully erected signs
1
> in the area
The current sign has been in place for at least 24 years that we are aware of and has not
caused any adverse affects or brought any complaints from neighboring businesses that we or
our landlord have been made aware of.
> 3. The sign will not be detrimental to properties located in the
> vicinity
The current pole sign does not obstruct or impair the visibility of the signs of our
neighboring commercial businesses or have any negative impact on them what so ever.
> 4. The sign will be in keeping with the character of the surrounding
> area
The signs along this section of Warner are of various sizes shapes and colors. Our sign
proposal will enhance the character of the area as it will be fresh and new in appearance.
> 5. The sign will not obstruct vehicular or pedestrian traffic
> visibility and will not be a hazardous distraction
Not only will it not obstruct either vehicular or pedestrian traffic, the s" isibilit
from a distance wi ow for a safer a roach and time for drivers to signal their
intention to turn into the property avoiding sudden braking and possible accidents. Due to
the density of the traffic on Warner, a lower sign would be hidden by heavy traffic until
nearly upon it. As the rendering shows, the sign is in good taste, simple, attractive, easy
to read and will in no way be a distraction to drivers.
