4.0 ISSUES AND ANALYSIS:
The existing nonconfozming rooftop sign is approximately 4 feet 6
inches high by 50 feet in length. Rooftop signs are now prohibited
by Article 976,Sign Code, of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code.
Records on file in the Department of Development Services indicate
that a building permit was issued for this rooftop sign on May 1,

existing sign to identify an existing business. The remaining sign
area will be utilized by an additional tenant at a later date.
Section 9760.47, Application to Extend Use of Nonconformin Si n;
states that , „the owner of any nonconforming sign or sign structure,
that ,is required to be removed, altered or replaced pursuant to the
provisions thereof, may make app lication to the Planning Commission
for the permission to extend the use o f such sign. The Planning
Cormission may grant n?er°iisson to extend the time for alteration,
removal or replacement of such sign or sign structure for a period
determi:'ed by the planning Commissi on".
5.0 RECOMMENDATION.,

Planning Commission allow the continuer) use of the nonconforming sign
for a period not to exceed twee years from the date of approval. AtLhe end of the two year per iod, th e sign shall be made to confer
with all provisions of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code.

bring the existing nonc :nforming sign into conformance ,with all
provisions of Article f76 of the Ordinance Code.
