The city of Huntington Bcach requires limited notification of adjacent propcrty/business
owners and tenants when an applicant proposes a restaurant, outdoor dining, personal
enrichment services, non amplit1~live entertainment, carts and kiosks, large family day
care or a sign code exception when criteria is met.
This letter is to notify YOll that Huntington Beach Family Martial Arts is proposing to
establish a children's and adult self defense school. At 16889 Beach Blvd. The proposed
application will comply with devctopment standards of the Huntington Beach Zoning and
subdivision Ordinancc. Pursuant to the City's Limited Notification standards, you arc
encouraged to review the proposed plans for compatibility issues, such as, hours of
operation, noise, location and design as appropriate. Plans are available for review and
comment at the Planning Department for ten business days from May 10, 2006 through
May 23, 2006. The address and phone numbcr of the Planning Departmcnt is: 2000 Main
Street, Third Floor, Huntington Beach, Ca 92648, (714) 536-527 I.
Under the provisions of the Huntington Beach Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance, the
action taken by the Planning Director at the end of the ten day review period becomes
final at the expiration of the I O-day appeal period. A person desiring to appeal the
decision shall file a written notice of appeal to the Secretary of the Planning Commission
within ten calendar days of the Planning Departments action. The notice of appeal shall
include the name and address of the appellant. the decision being appealed. and the
grounds for the appeal. A tiling fcc shall also accompany the notice of appeal. The appeal
fcc is $409.00 for a single family dwelling property owner appealing the decision on his
or her ownJ.?foperly. The <lppcal fee is $1063.00 for alI other appeals. The appeal period
starts at the end of the I O-day review period.

We are combining two units in a shopping center. We already have a C of 0 for
the existing location. According to HB City code we can have an area up to 2700 sq. ft.
Our total square footage is now 3600 sq. ft. Our training area is a total of2000 sq. ft. We
will be using the following areas as marked on our site plan for the following purposes.
A. Training Area 1 (1500 sq. ft.)
B. Storage (150 sq. ft.)
C. Retail (340 sq ft)
D. Office (200 sq ft.)
