Our educational model simulates that of a tutoring organization. Enrollees in grades 6th
through 12th grade receive one-to-one instruction in a full curriculum of subjects.
o Futures in Education/Halstrom offers a year-round open enrollment and flexible scheduling.
o Many of the participants at Halstrom are part-time enrollees who are attending in order to
improve grades, catch up on credits, and meet college requirements and/or getting ahead.
o An overwhelming majority of the enrollees in our other campuses are dropped off and
picked up by their parents and/or siblings.
o WASC Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredit our services. Many courses
are Certified "a-g" by the University of California and approved by the NCAA.
o A Futures in Education/Hastrom has been in existence for over 25 years.

15B: Reasons for initiatin this A lication
o On June 26, 2012 our Administrative Permit NO. 12-06 was conditionally approved. We
would like to now relocate into another suite within the same office park. Our conditionally
approved use of Personal Enrichment Services will not chan e. Upon confirmation we
would then be permitted to operate in the new suite.

This letter is to notify you that Futures in Education/Halstrom is proposing to relocate its
already approved and operating Academic Enrichment Center located at 2134 Main
Street, Suite 220, Huntington Beach, CA to a new location located within the same office
park. The new address for the new location is 2100 Main Street, Suite 260, Huntington
Beach, CA.
Pursuant to Section 241.24 of the Huntington Beach Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance,
the Neighborhood Notification process is required. You may review the proposed plans at
the Planning Department, 2000 Main Street, Huntington Beach, CA, from September 26 ,
2012 - October 8, 2012 (Minimum 10 days), or contact the Planning Department at (714)
536-5271. All comments must be submitted to the Planning Department prior to the
expiration date for review of the proposal.
Under the provisions of the Huntington Beach Zoning and Subdivision Ordinance, the
action taken by the Director of Planning becomes final, unless appealed. A person
desiring to appeal the decision shall file a written notice of appeal with the Planning
Department within ten calendar days of the date of the Planning Department's action.
The notice of appeal shall include the name and address of the appellant, the decision
being appealed, and the basis for the appeal. A filing fee shall also accompany the notice
of appeal. The appeal fee is $494.00. The appeal period starts at the end of the 10-day
review period.
