DESCRIPTION

This is one of a row of single-story Colonial Revival residences along
the north side of 9th, in the 200 block. It is topped with a hipped
roof and features a pedimented gable, accented with fishscale shingles
and a louvered vent in the center. Carved brackets ring the eaves.
Narrow clapboard siding, with wider boards at foundation level, covers
the house, Corner boards trim the edges. A double-hung window balances
a recessed porch in the front facade. The porch, which is located on
the east side, features a front-facing double-hung window and a side-
facing front door. Plain posts and a carved balustrade, not original,
accent the porch. Double-hung windows, with a strip of molding above-
the lintel, are used throughout the remainder of the house.

SIGNIFICANCE

This is an outstanding example of coastal architecture which is significant to
the historical streetscape of the City of Huntington Beach. Individually it
represents a unique statement of the skilled craftsmanship prevalent in the
early City.
