From that day on, it became a sanctuary for Veterans coping with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and for anyone wishing to remember and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Mr. Martinez may have passed away but his spirit of community has left a lasting impression on the community. His compassion touched many in the Huntington Beach community, including myself, and I would like to honor his commitment to the City and to our Veterans by memorializing his vision of Patriot Point. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Direct the City Manager to return with a proposal to purchase a plaque commemorating the life and dedication of Mr. Martinez and install said plaque at Patriot Point.
