These units were to be Milt an Alobamp,Street (Lots 3, 4, & S w Block 1401 of T. J. l+;atsons Resubdiv aion) , After several weeks the Building Department contactod me and informed me that the plans were ready for pica urn, and a number of corrections had to be made. I then took these plans to Architect Lon Dalris & Asaocir•.tes (Ron) for the corrections. The following are the circumstances Nfnich.Prevented me from having my plans back, on time: I was Dot vert-�als.y informed of a six month deadline on plan check. I read all the written information that was given to me at the time of plan submittal, and cannot find anyplace where it st-tes this six month deadline. Several weeks after returning the plans to the architect, I contacted him to see what progress had been wade in the corrections. lie informed me, at that time, that a work over -Load h«d ;.prevented nim from getting to them. I am an cos Angeles City Fire Ca -taro and wa-- working 24 hr. platoorw duty at the time of plan submittal, L=ee months ago, i w�:e- assigned to background investilzMtion of new c!ndica to^, and this reouiro'd a great deal of time. I left my home at 5:00 A. M, and returned at 8:00 P.m five days a week, during which time I w,,s unable to c; n"'et the architect. Recently, I was sent back to the field, and once again contacted tna archittst-t,, who had stil.L failed to produce, because of some confusion about tiie chtine.ov, The first opportunity l had,, I went to the Building Department to find out ex�Lctlyy what. uas needed fo-:° my pians, only to find. out that they were four days past plan check dea.d.line. This came as a com.Fl.ete surprise to me, due to the fact that 1 am not a licensed contractor, %nd an not familiar with every part of the Uniform Building Code. I are a layman, and need to have these deadlines painted out, the same as aTzy layman that comes to your department for help. Also, t was never originally notified that this property was to be down graded, and found out only by accident that some property in Huntington Beach wes being darn graded. upon chec'k..ing Wi.tb the Building Department I found out it did Involve my property, and I had gust two weeks to submit plains. I need not tell You the problems and expense involved in meeting thin. deadline. But, someb3w I made itt I would like to give you some past history about this property: I bought, this lot in 1964, at that time it was a twelve unit :rot. I had plans drawn for eight units which had, cleared plan check. Due tc the vacancy factor in Huntington Beach at that tiros, money got tight and. I was unable to get'. financing. A short time later the cite changed the square footage unit on this property, and in turn changed the lot from a twelve ur4.t lot to a seven unit lot, which left ice holding the bag with plans for eight units. In June of 1968,the City of xuntington Beach necessitated the use of my 'lot as an extension of the City Yard. Therefore= leasing the property until 1974• At that time the lease was cancelled, the property restored to its criginal state and returned to me. Considering all circumstances, I do hope you will consider my roquest for an extension of tim:e,.
