Trustees of 'the City of Huntington Beach met in regular ses- sion.Roll call . Trustees present Vavra, Manning ,, Chapin and Drew, Absent , Andrews . Petition to Petition signed by eleven owners of property abutting Improve on alleys in Blocks 203 , 104 and 204 that the said alleys alleys in be brought to grade and improved with concrete pavement 203,104 & 204 . under the property assessment plan, was presented and it referred to was moved by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Manning that Engineer . the City Engineer make the necessary surveys and institute i proceedings to improve the said alleys as petitioned . Carried. Note referred Communication from the Trustees of the Methodist Church I t o Supt of asking if Furnace rate on Gas would apply to their other Gas .Dept , heaters in case they would install Gas in the Furnace , was on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Chapin refer- red to the Supt .of the Gas Dept . i Reso.335 Resolution No . 335 , adopting plane profiles #1002 r adopting for the construction of curbing and the grading of sidewalks plan & pro- on Delaware Avenue from Frankfort to Joliet St s . was presentdd file. . and on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Manning was Delaware. passed and, adopted by the following vote; Ayes . Trustees Manning, Chapin , Drew and Vavra. Noes , None . Absent , Andrews. Reso.336, Resolution No . 336, approving Assessment District to Delaware , pay the costs of the construct ion of curbs and the grading ! approving of sidewalks on Delaware Avenue , Frankfort to Joliet St s . assessment the same being numbered 1003 , was presented and on motion map. by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Chapin was passed and adopted by the following vote;, Ayes , Trustees Manning , Chapin, Drew, Vavra . ,I Noes , None . Absent , Andrews . ' Reso,337, Resolution No . 557, being a resolution of Intention to Delaware , improve Delaware Ave . frow Frankfort to Joliet St . by the I Intention to construction of Curbing and Grading of sidewalks , was pre- 1 Improve , sented and on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Manning was passed and adopted by the following vote; Ayes , Trustees Manning , Drew , Chapin, Vavra. Noes , None . Absent , Andrews . Gas System . Mr. T3erkley then presented his analysis of the various Analysis of bids for Labor and Materials for the construction of the I bids submitd, Gas Distributing System which analysis being based on unit price is rather too complicated to be entered on the minutes but it was shown and proven that the bidV submitted by the j Result of U. S. Cast Iron Pipe and Foundry Co , was the lowest for 4" 1 Analysis . Cast Iron Pipe , that that of the General Fire Extinguisher Co. was the lowest submitted for the Wrought Iron Pipe and that the bid of R.- F . Ware was the lowest for the labor of constructing the System, and it was Gas System. Moved by Trustee Drew, seconded by Trustee Manning that Labor ContractAll bids f.or the Labor of Constructing the Gas Distributing Awarded . System be rejected except that of R. F, Ware and that he be awarded the Cont ract , unit prices to prevail as per stipula- tion, Carried . Gas Suet em. Moved by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Manning that Cast Iron all bids for Wrought Iron Pipe be rejected except that 'of the � Pipe bid Gerkeara3,ctXUre Extinguisher Co , whose bid as to unit prices as accepted , per stipulation, be accepted . Carried. Gas System, Moved by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Chapin that Wrot Iron all bids for Cast Iron Pipe be rejected except that of the Pipe , bid U. S. Cast Iron Pipe and Foundry Co . whose bid as to unit accepted . price as per stipulation, be accepted . Carried . J f 1 2 ►- Dec . 15, 1919 . Certified Moved by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Manning that Checks to be the Clerk be instructed to return Certified Checks to all returned . except successful bidders . Carried. Demand The Finance Coymittee having approved the following approved. Demand it was moved by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Chapin that the same be allowed. Carried. J. M. Berkley , 1,000.00 Prot ect ing City Engineer Sumner made a verbal report and recommen- piling . Engr .. dat ion in, regard to protecting the piling of the pier from 4 recommends . erosion, the method consisting of Concrete reinforced with chicken fencing to be built up around the pile inside of a Supt of St . wooden form and it was moved by Trustee Chapin seconded_ by to proceed . Trustee Manning that the Street Superintendent be instructed to proceed ,t and"er theesppbrvisl:©nYioCrthehCitygEngi,neer, to protect the five piles which are showing wear . Carried . Adjourned .
