On motion by Trustee Macklin, seconded by Trustee Onson, these recommendations were ap- proved. CITY ATTORIZY City Attorney Blodget reported on the following matters: REPORTS ON First - Telephone service : He advised that the City of TELEPH011M Huntington Beach now had three toll lines to Los Angeles by way of, ' SERVICE: Anaheim over the United States Long Distance, also three lines di- rect to Los Angeles, and six lines by way of Long Beach, over the Pacific Tele. & Tele. Co. lines to Los Angeles. He stated that the Long Distance Companies were very anxious to have the complaint dis- missed now on file with the Railroad Commis , s they felt they Minutes February 5th, 1923, - Page #2 were at present rendering satisfactory service and a number present stated in their judgment„the service was greatly improved. However, after some discussion, the motion was offered by Trustee Macklin, seconded by Trustee Onson, that the City Attorney should withhold release of the complaint before the Railroad Commission with re - ference to the Long Distance Telephone Companies until the next , meeting of the Board, in order that it might be determined whether i or not this relief was temporary or permanent. telePhone service® IRE: ESTABLISHING Mr. Blodget stated that he had written Mr. E. BE- Attorney Blodget advised that the telephone company had declared ; FORE Rollo their intention of preparing an application for increase of rates to be passed on at the same time by the,-Railroad Commission, and COMMISSION: that in order for him to properly present the City`s side of the case, it will be necessary for him to have competent assistance in examining the accounts of the Huntington Beach Telephone Company, to determine whether or not they were entitled to an increase in rate.
