ROLL CALL Trustees present: Trustee Onson, Obarr, Andrews and Drew. Absent: Trustee Macklin. IN RE: Communications were read as follows: CENSUS P. 0. Munson proposing to make a census of the City of Huntington Beach; Joseph Rodman Post , American A1111MR.LEGION DANCES Legion proposing to rent the Auditorium for Semi- monthly dances; Foster and Kleiser advising the CO-OPERATION OF Board of their policy of co-operation with the FOSTER .AND nEISEiZ cities in which they have bill boards. On motion � by Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Onson, these communications were ordered accepted and placed on file. IN RE: A number of property owners adjacent to the corner of 7th and Walnut Streets were present in PROTEST OF i 02ERTY support of a petition signed by a large number of 0IVIVERS AGAINST property owners in the city, protesting against CERTS,IN TYPE OF the building of the type of Bungalow Courtp,such BUNGALOW COURTS as are now under construction at 7th and Walnut, BEING BUILT and it being the sense of the Board that this type of construction is detrimental to the best interest of the City, the City Attorney, on motion by Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Andrews , was instructed to draw an amendment to the Building - Ordinance , revising the specifications in such a manner as to prevent the recurrance of this sit- uation. Delapp, Postmaster appeared before the Board setting forth a condition in the local postoffiee i�iATTE`R PERTAINING and reading a letter from the First Assistant TO LESS HELP IN THE Postmaster General instructing him to cut his force ' LOCAL POST OFFICE which is in line wi th the pol ' c ugurated by IS PER LETTER srEC 'D the department all over the y. Mr. Delapp FROM ASST. POS'11JIAuTER stated that with the help available it was GEDERAL impossible to handle the mail that came to this office , that they were now behind in the distri- bution about 25 bags and the number would continue to grow. After considerable discussion, on motion by Trustee Onson, seconded by Trustee Obarr, the President of the Board was authorized to wire- protests to the Senator and. Congressman from this district, also to write John H. Bartlett, First Assistant Postmaster General , Ivashington, D. C. , asking for relief. IN RE: Frank Swartz, Secy. of Chamber of Commerce,addressed the Board with reference to waste oil being allowed PROTEST OF WASTE to run upon the beach, stating that he had been OIL BEING ALLOWED reliabily informed that oil was discharged from time 1 TO RUN UPON BEACH AT to time from the sewer line of the Holly Sugar 23rd STREET. Corporation.at 23rd Street, but was unable to de- termine the exact source of this oil. Snowden, manager of the Huntington Beach Telephone Company appeared before the Board requesting that the REQUEST OF THE City provide a boreunder Main, street pavement at TELEPHONE C01PANY Acacia in order that they might run a telephone cable TO RUh CABLE FROM from their new- office building to the Oity Hall. ivIr. On motion by Trustee Obarr, seconded ! by Trustee Onson, the matter was referred to the City Engineer with authority to act. IN RE: W; D. Young appeared before the Board stating that he had misunderstood the Building Ordinance with reference COIdPLIANCE OF to thickness of brick walls in the Fire District and BLDG. ORD. II1 REFER-that he was prepared to proceed with his garage build- v ENCE TO 1HICKNESS ing on 3rd Street, and in order to comply with the OF BRICK WALLS Ordinance it would be necessary to revise his plans. i He was informed that no concession could be made in violation of the Ordinance.
