Pursuant to adjournment August 13, ;the regular meet-
Regular ing was called to order at 8:00 P. Al. by President Drew.

Roll Call Trustees present, Onson IiIacklin, Obarr and Drew
Trustees, absent Andrews.
Bond of Thomas W. Simmons , as principal and the Fidelity
Bond, Thomas & Deposit Company as-surety was approved on motion made
Simmons, approved by Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin.
Ordinance #263 was given second reading, and on motion
Ordinance #263 of Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin was passed
passed and adopted and adopted by the following votes:
AYES Trustees Onson, Macklin, Obarr and Drew
NOES Trustees None
ABSENT Trustees Andrews.
Boxing Exhibition Permit to conduct a boxing exhibition at 214 5th Street
Request granted. on August 24, was granted, on motion by Trustee Macklin,
t_ seconded by Onson.
Carnival on Mr. Cameron. of the Oil Workers Union requested per-
Labor Day mission to hold a carnival in connection with the Labor
Day celebration on Ocean Avenue. east of 3rd Street; which
was granted on motion by Trustee Onson, seconded by Trustee
Macklin, on condition that the approval be secured from the
Contractor, G,. III. Souter.
On motion by Trustee Onson, seconded by Trustee Macklin
the Labor Day Committee was granted permission to ad.d
` Extension of sixty "(60) feet of lattice sun shade on the beach in addi- x
sunshade tion to that already erected, subject to consent of the
Huntington Beach Company (20 feet to be extended toward the
dance hall and 40 feet to extend toward the plunge. )
Resolution #3992 a copy of, which is herewith attached and
made a part of these minutes , on motion by Trustee Onson,
Resolution #397? seconded by Trustee Macklin was passed and adopted by the

Petition: lighting A petition was submitted asking that a lighting system be

On motion by Trustee Obarrn seconded by Trustee Macklin
City Engineer Gates was instructed to prepare plans and
specifications for the said lighting system.
On motion by Trustee Macklin, seconded by 'Trustee Obarr,
Complaint City A-ttorney was instructed to answer complaint of Henry
Henry Schagfert Schaffert, praying for injunction on the Ocean Avenue Contract.
On motion by Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin
the City Attorney was authorized to secure additional counsel
Addition counsel on the injunction suit.
Mrs. Wupperman addressed the Board, requesting information

Ordiance #264 Ordinance #264 was given first reading.

to the City Librarian.
On motion by Trustee Andrews , seconded by Trustee Obarr,
Wreath City- Clerk was instructed to secure a wreath for the fun-
eral of the father of the City Librarian.
On motion by Trustee Onson, seconded by Trustee Obarr, the
Executive Board went into executive session. .�.

The Board was again called to order by President Brew.
On motion by Trustee Macklin, seconded by Trustee Obarr ,
BE: Brombacher the City Clerk wits instructed to write Brombacher Iron Forks,
Iron Works. advising them that they are expected to leave the jail in as
asking for good a condition as they foundgl,�;
immediate action Also that the City is being deprived of the use of the
on Jail Contract building at an expense of $150.00 per month, and ask that
immediate action be taken.
On motion by Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Andrews,
payment of $500.00 to the Southern Pacific Railway Company, -�
ClAy. Street was authorized toward the cost of installing e,. crossing and
wig-wag on Clay Street.
On motion by Trustee Macklin, seconded by Trustee Andrews

sult of the riot of last winter. 1
On motion by Trustee Onson, seconded by Trustee Macklin,
Reconsideration reconsideration is given the motion of August 13th, BE:
of motion twelve (12) inch casing under Ocean Avenue and providing for
August 13th. six (6) inch vitrified sewer pipe and an eight (8) inch casing.
