Trustees absent,, Andrews. rONSON ON The President appointed Trustee Onson to act on -the finance . FINANCE COMMITTEE committee in the absence of Trustee Andrews. Regular .order of business was dispensed with and Frank Swartz RE: ADDITIONAL presented a matter with ref"erence to the 31oar1 making appropriation COST FOR LUMBER covering the additional cost of lumber used in placing additional USED ON SEATS seats in front of the band stand for the Labor Day celebration for c IN FRONT OF the purpose of leaving the seats for future use. BAND STAND On motion by Trustee. Macklin seconded by Trustee Obarr, the amount necessary to cover the cost, after deducting the amount paid by the Labor Day Committee from the gp500.00 previously appropriated for a sunshade , was allowed, same to be paid from the Music & Pro- motion Fund. Minutes of the meeting for the- month of August were read and APPROVAL OF approved on motion by Trustee Obarr seconded by Trustee Onson. a MINUTES APPROVAL OF Regular monthly reports of the Recorder, Building Inspector, Clerk REPORTS and Librarian were read and approved on motion by Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin. Mr. S. C. 1r11inor addressed the Board, making application for the use of the Public hall on the 20th of S eptember to be used for REQUEST FOR an address by Eugene B. Debbs. President Drew advised Mr. Minor {� PUBLIC HALL that the Board would consider the matter and advise him and his FOR DEBBS committee later on of their decision. RECESS Ten minutes recess was .taken at this time . The Board was again called to order and a motion was offered by REQUEST Trustee Obarr seconded by Trustee MJ cklin, that the request for the DENIAED RE: use of the Public Hall for Eugene V. Debbs on September 20th should Deb%s not be granted, which was -carried unanimously. An estimate of the work completed to date .on the Contract of G. M. Souter .on Ocean Avenue signed by Louis F. RE: 'TACKLE Valk was read and the transfer was approved on motion By Trustee STAND Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin. COivITAUNICATION A communication from J. rT. Johnson was read with reference to J. M. JOHNSON tl e_order of the police department for him to remove his real estate � h sign from the sidewalk on Main- Street. Same was ordered placed on file. Request of the Lions Club for use of the Public Hall for a REQUEST dance on the.e.vening of September 14th was approved on motion by y LIONS CLUB Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin. A letter of.appreciation signed by Mrs. Proctor and Mrs Rey- LETTER OF nolds for the flowers and letter of condolence from the Board was .APPRECIATION read and placed on file. r. 14 � I � l The request for a license to conduct the Pool Hall formerly �J LICENSE TO owned by B. Lindner, by .James Ballard having been reported CONDUCT POOL favorably by Chief of Police Tinsley, was granted on motion HALL GRANTED by Trustee Obarr,seconded by Trustee Onson, and the Clerk in- structed to issue a license to 1.1r. Ballard. Communication from the Orange County Builders Exchange was COIZIUMUNICATION read, requesting the Board to appoint a committee of represent- ORANGE COUNTY ative contractors to confer with the General Committee of Orange BUILDERS EXCHANGE County Builders for the purpose of making recommendations for revision of the Builders Ordinance now in effect throughout i C010ITTEE the country. APPOINTED On motion by Trustee Obarr seconded by Trustee Ldacklin, the President of the Board was authorized to make the appointments. ' Ij Ordinance #264 was given second reading and on motion by ` Trii.stee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin was passed and adopted ORDINANCE #264 by the following votes.: PASSED AND AD- OPTED. AYES Trustees, Onson, Macklin, Obarr, Drew. NOES Trustees, None ABSENT Trustees, Andrews. i SURETY BOND Surety bond of Ed. Manning, contractor, was presented and i APPROVED approved on motion by Trustee Obarr, seconded by Trustee Macklin. r Resolution 4-398 was read , declaring the amount of money necessary to be raised by taxation for the fiscal year, 1923-24, i RESOLUTION #398 and setting the rate required , a copy of which is included and ia: TAXATION made a part of these minutes. On motion by Trustee Onson, seconded by Trustee Macklin PASSED AID resolution #398 was passed. and adopted by the following votes: ADOPTED AYES , Trustees, Onson, Macklin, Obarr, and Drew.
