Trustees present: Wharton, Macklin,Boster, Drew, Ridenour. ROLL CALL, Trustees absent' None LEAGUS OF CALIF. A communication inviting all officials to the Convention ' MUNICIPALITIES of the LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA MUNICIPALITIES at Monterey, CONVENTION. was read. A written application for a permit to hold an amateur boxing exhibition at 214-5th Street on the night of TWO BOXING i'ERMITS September 19 was read and, on motion by Trustee Macklin GRANTED. -i s -- -- - =seconded by .Trustee Wharton was approved. - 'A permit was also approved for the night of Se te-mber 26, both applications being accompanied with the usual 5.00 license fee. PAVING OF ,ALLEY IN The matter of paving of the alley in Block #304 Huntington BLCK #304' H.B.TRACT Re.a6h, . Hunt ngto.n:.Bea..ch'Traet,=-=-== was again. brought. REFERRED TO -E'NGINEER up and on Motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boater, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare plans.,, specification, profiles and cross-sections for the paving of said alley. A request by Pacific Humus Company to have access to the PACIFIC HUMUS COMPANY water report e, made for this City by Smith Emory Company of Los Angeles was taken under advisement. A written request signed by the Chief of. Police was . CHIEF OF POLICE -presented asking the Board to advertise for a new Buick ASKS FOR NEW BUICK CAR touring car or its equivalent with certain equipment was discussed and on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Macklin was laid on the . table. On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee BILLS ALLOWED. Noes: None Absent: None This being the time for hearing of protests on the - improvement of California Avenue as set forth in t Resolution of:<lntention #451. in accordance with notices regularly published. The Clerk informed the Board that RESOLUTION #461 no protests had been filed. There being .no, protests PASSED .AND ADOPTED. against the. proposed work on California Avenue between Detroit Street and Geneva Avenue, Resolution #461 order- ing the work on California Avenue was read, a copy of which is on file in the office' of the Clerk and on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton was passed and adopted by the following vote : Ayes: Wharton, Macklin, Boater, Drew, Ridenour. Noes: None Absent: None The Clerk reported- the approximate cost of furnish- ing the auditorium kitchen with tables, dishes and FURNISHING, silverware and after discussion the clerk was instructed a AUDITORIUM to purchase a six hole gas range and a steam table for ' KITCHEN installation in the auditorium kitchen. Trustee, Wharton seconded by Trustee Drew offereV.a RESOLUTION 'OF--.. motion that the work on Walnut Avenue from irst to INTENTION #4#'2 23r.d. Street under Resolution of Intention 242 be and ABANDONED is hereby abandoned for the purpose of creating a new assessment district which was carried. The matter of starting improvement on 7th Street came up again for discussion and it was pointed out IIl1Z'ROVEI:�i:NT OF that considering the number of property owners that SEVENTH STREET signed the petition to have the, work postponed on this street, Trustee Boster moved that the City Engineer" . be instructed to prepare plans, specifications., profiles and cross-sections for the improvement of 7th Street, but the motion was lost for the want of a second. The City Engineer submitted a sample of "pea gravel" GlitVEL FOR _ for use at the auto camp and on motion by Trustee Ma.ckli&a AUTO CAMP seconded by Trustee Boster he was instructed to order x a sufficient quantity for the auto camp.
