ROIL CALL Trustees present: 1,Vharton, Boster, Ridenour. Trustees absent JTacklin_, Drew. RECESS The Chair declared a short recess. TRUSTEE DREW ARRIV* Trustee. Drew arrived at 2:34 P. P;I. ED A communication from S. H. Fir-ley, Secretary of the CONTROLLER TO Colorado River Aqueduct Association_ was read inviting the Board ATTEND COLOBADO to have a representative at the meeting to be held at St. RIVER AQUEDUCT Ann' s Inn at 10:00 A. M. February 21st. On motion_ by Trustee I.1EETIIdG Wharton seconded by Trustee Boster the City Controller was instructed to attend the meeting. A communication_ from 1,1r . Lawshe, VIa.na.ger of the Huntington_ Beach Company, was read with reference to the City sharing or_e- CITY TO FURTISH half of the cost of Waiting Station along the Pacific Electric 1 OF FUNDS FOR Track at `IVenty-third Street. He stated that the entire cost NEW WAITING STA. would be $235.00 and the Pacific Electric Railttiay Company proposed to bear one-half of the expense. On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boster the Board authorized payment of $117 .50 for this purpose . The application of L. 0. Kn_otts for renewal of pool hall L. 0. YI]*OTTS POOL license which had beer_ referred to the Chief of Police was HALL LICRtSE returned bearing his approval'. On motion by Trustee Drew REIIMITD seconded by Trustee Wharton renewal of L. 0. Knotts pool hall license was approved. The Clerk informed the Board that the contract for collect- ing garbage in the City had expired several months ago and the reason_ for not having brought the matter to their attention CLERK INSTRUCTED before was that he understood that the contract was for a TO ADVER'i'ISE FOR period of three years and found on checking it up that it reads BIDS ON GARBAGE for two years. On :notion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee COT�I'TIR.ACT Wharton: the Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for collection_ of garbage for a period of five years, providing also that the garbage be disposed of outside the present City limi ts. On :notion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Drew the City Attorney was instructed to prepare an amendment to the tax ordinance providing for the dates of collection and delinquency and penalties as now in use by Orange County. A petition was presented, signed by numerous property owners on Seventh Street asking the Board to take such steps as are necessary to have :larbelite Posts for the lighting of PETITION, FILED TO Seventh Street instead of Union_ T.etal Posts. The President of the Board pointed out to him that since this petition had not been presented at the legal time for hearing protests it would be impossible to dha,ng;e the specifications without abandoning all preliminary work and advertising that had beer_ done up to this time and all expense incurred, therefore would have to come from the general 1 fund and could not be included in the final assessment against property owners on Seventh Street. The Controller reported to the Board that the Police Department was in need of better automobile equipment for the night patrol and that in order to save purchasing a new car the City Engineer BUICK CAR TRANS- had expressed willingness to turn over the Buick touring car fur- ' FERRED TO POLICE nished by the City to him to the Police Department and use his own DEPARTiJIETdT car on a. monthly allowance of <„40.00 and the Ford Touring car. .now APPROVED in use by the night patrol to be transferred to the Street Depart- ment to take the place of a worn out car now in use. This arrange- ment was satisfactory to Chief Tinsley and the approval of the Board was requested which was granted on motion by Trustee Boster seconded by Trustee LAharton. The Controller informed the Board that the Street Department was now paying a rental-.-.on a Ford Truck used for Street cleaning CLERK TO ADVERTISE of approximately $120.00 a month in addition to the gasoline and FO_: TrEVI FORD DU1JP oil used. He recommended that the City purchase a new Ford Dump TRUCK FOR STREET Truck equipped with a Little Giant Hoist, the seller to accept as DEPARTI:EIdT a part of the purchase price a Ford automobile now in use by that departmer_t. On motion_ by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton the Clerk was instructed to advertise for the Truck and exchange as outlined. This being the time for hearing protests against the Assuar_ce of bonds covering the unpaid assessments for work done on Fourteenth RESOLUTION # 493 Street between Ocean Avenue and Palm Avenue the Clerk informed the PASSED A111) ADOP= Board r_o .protests had been filed, therefore resolution # 493, provided •for the issuance of serial bonds to cover the unpaid assess- ments , was read, a copy of. which is or_ file in the office of the Clerk and on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded byTrustee Boster was passed and adopted by the . following vote : Ayes : Trustees Wharton, Boster, Drew,. RidEnour. Noes : None. Absent: Trustee T:Iacklin. This being the time for hearing the protests against the issuance of bonds covering the unpaid assessment for the improvement of California Avenue between Detroit and Geneva Streets , the Clerk RESOLUTION r 494 informed the Board that no protests had been filed, therefore EL SSED AIM ADOPTED Resolution_ T 494, providing for the issuance of bonds covering the unpaid assessments was read, a copy of which is or_ file in the office of the Clerk and or_ motion_ by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Boster was passed and adopted by the following vote : Ayes : Trustees 11ha.rton, Boster, Drew, Ridenour. The Engineer reported that George M. Souter was the low RESOLUTION 7r 497 bidder for the work on Seventh Street. On motion by Trustee. SOUTER . was accepted and all others rejected, therefore Resolution # 497 , awarding the contract to George I& Souter was read, a copy of which is on file in the office of the Clerk and on motion by Trustee ffharton seconded by Trustee Boster was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes : Trustees Wharton, Boster, Dreg, Ridenour. Noes : None Absent: Trustee ILIacklin. The Clerk presented a letter from the General Electrical CORI EMION ON FORM Company correcting a quotation on form 7C12, Novalux units. The *12 ITOVALUX UNITS letter stated that the $23.08 should have read $28.08. The letter was ordered placed on file.
