The regular meeting was called to order at 8:00 P. M. by
REGULAR President Ridenour.
Trustees present; . T:Tacl:lin, Boster, Drew, Ridenour.
ROLL CALL Trustees absent Wharton.
The minutes for the month of March were read and approved
MINUTES APPROVED on motion by Trustee Macklin seconded by Trustee Drew.
The monthly reports of Treasurer, Recorder, Clerk, and
Building Inspector were read and approved on motion by Trustee
MONTHLY REPORTS Boster seconded by 'Trustee Macklin.
APPROVED
On motion by Trustee Macklin seconded by Trustee Boster the
TRANSFER OF FUND Clerk was instructed to transfer $1300.00 from the Gas Fund
to Gas Interest and Redemption Fund #1 to cover principal and
interest on maturing bonds.
The surety o?L A. Chaffee, Deputy Assessor and the Julian
SURETY BONDS Petroleum Corpolration, Electrical Contractor, was accepted, -
APPROVED subject to approval of the City Attorney who was absent, on
motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Macklin.
-The written request for permission to place Christian
PERMISSION GRANTED . Science literature in the Auto Park was read .and the same was
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE granted on motion by Trustee Macklin seconded by. Trustee Boster.

FRED OTT APPOINTED Communication from Chief of Police Tinsley was read re-

RECESS The Chair declared a short recess.
The meeting was again called to order and Mr. Wm Taylor
addressed the Board with reference to approval of plans for a

Trustee Drew stated that Mrs. C. Frances Clark had suggested

A communication from the Huntington Beach Municipal Band Y
was read suggesting an arrangement for the season calling for

J. TINSLEY RESIGNS Communication from J. Tinsley, Health Officer was read
AS HEALTH OFFICER tendering his resignation 'as Health Officer effective at the
pleasure of the Board.
The Clerk submitted a copy _.of the contract entered into
between the City of Santa Ara and the Health Department of Orange
DISCUSSION OF HEALTH County, informing.';the Board that the County. Department was willing
DEPT. FOR FUTURE to offer the same type of service to this city- on a per capita
basis of 10% at a cost of approximately, �'500.00 per year. On
motion by Trustee Boster seconded by Trustee Macklin this matter
was laid over until the next meeting for further discussion.

The City Controller reported on the matter of negotiating a

is a fair price for same and that he be authorized to negotiate
with persons or corporations who may offer to supply the City.
Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Macklin moved that approval of
this recommendation be made which was carried.
NEY-' ORDINANCE . Ordinance #275 amending Ordinance #150 which provides for

Huntington Beach was given first reading.

the Board to do so at this time.
E. B. Stevens presented the matter of a proposed pier

feasibility of the plan and estimate the approximate cost thereof.
Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Macklin moved that the Engineer
be instructed to make the preliminary investigation.
Engineer Billings reported to the Board with reference to

ITow that the necessary information had been secured he recommended
that the Board advertise for bids for repairing the line either
on a per diem or a lump sum basis. This work to include the
entire line to the original outlet. The Clerk was instructed to
advertise for bids on this work in the per diem or lump sum on
motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Macklin.
The Building Inspector presented the request of S. R. Bowen
PERMIT GRANTED for permit to erect gasoline service station and cut the necessary

Trustee Boster seconded by Trustee Drew.

BIDS REFERRED TO On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Macklin
ENGINEER these bids were referred to the City Engineer for analysis,
The question of the Electrical Ordinance was brought up
NEU ELECTRICAL ORD. relative to the installation of electrical signs and with a

On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Macklin the
Clerk was instructed to write the licensed electricians inviting
them to submit a new electrical ordinance- for consideration
of the Board.
Mrs . C. Frances Clark addressed the Board. with reference

The City Engineer reported to the Board that Geo. 11,
RESOLUTION #507 Souter was the low bidder for the work on Orange Avenue from
.AWARDING GEO TAT SOUTER Eleventh Street to Twenty-third Street therefore Resolution
CONTRACT ON ORAT�GE ST #507 awarding the contract to Geo. M. Souter was read, a
copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk and
on motion by Trustee Macklin seconded by Trustee Drew was
passed and adopted by the following vote:
Ayes :, Trustees Macklin, Boster, Drew, Ridenour.
Noes: Trustees None
Absent: Trustee Wharton.
Trustee Drew brought up the matter of improvement of
Walnut Avenue from Eleventh- Street to Twenty-third Street
stating that.-plans were ordered in his absence and it was his
understanding that the. Huntington Beach Company who owned
PLANS REVISED FOR a large percentage of the property between Seventeenth Street
PAVING OF WALNUT AVE. and Twenty-third Street was opposed to the work at this time .
He therefore suggested a revision of the plans to include
TO PAVE FROM .11TH that portion of Orange Avenue between Eleventh Street and
TO 17TH Seventeenth Street. On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by
Trustee Macklin the City Engineer was instructed to prepare
plans, specifications, cross-sections and profiles for the
improvement of Waln# Avenue by paving and lighting from
Eleventh Street to Seventeenth Street; abandoning the work for
the present between Seventeenth Street and Twenty-third
Street.
A roll caal.was requested on this question and it was
passed and adopted by the follwing vote :
Ayes: Trustees Macklin, Drew, Ridenour.
Noe s: Trustee Boster.
Absent: Trustee Wharton.
