CITY HALL JULY 6TH9 1925.
REGULAR The regular meeting was called to order at 8:04 P. M. by
President Ridenour.
ROLL CALL Trustees present: Wharton, Dunning, Boster, Drew, Ridenour.
Trustees Absent None.
The minutes for the month of June were read and approved on
MINUTES READ AND motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Boster.
APPROVED
Reports for the month of June for the Treasurer, Recorder,
Ir20NTHLY REPORTS Building Inspector,, Clerk and Advertising Agent were read and
APPROVED approved on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton.
The application of Rudd Brothers for renewal of their pool
RUDD BROS. LICENSE hall license on 11ain Street was again brought up bearing the
APPROVED approval of the Chief of Police and was approved on motion by
Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton.
Communication from the Library Board signed by J. Ed. Huston,
1V1RSo S. Ao MOORE Luther Arthur and C. P. Patton, Trustees, was read requesting the
RE-APPOINTED AS re-appointment of Mrs. S. A. Moore as a Trustee. This appoint-

L. E. MITCHELL .Britten request was submitted by the Fire Chief asking

RELIEF FIRE DRIV.,R driver to serve temporarily in the absence of M. W. Neal from
the City. This approval was granted on motion by Trustee Wharton
seconded by Trustee Boster.
R. L. 114RTINDALE ,A written request of the Chief of Police was submitted
APPOI14TED POLICE asking confirmation of the appointment of R. L. LZartin_dale as
OFFICER Police Officer employed only for relief during the absence of
regular Officers on their vacations. This was,_-approved on motion
by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boster..
The matter of Public Liability Insurance on the Play Ground
CONTROLLER IN- at the Beach was discussed and on motion by Trustee Drew seconded
STRUCTED TO PLACE by Trustee Wharton the Controller was instructed to place Public
INS;Rt,SCE ON PLAY Liability 'Insurance on the basis of $10,000 indemnity for injury
GROUNDS to one person or $20,000 for any one accident.
At this time a letter from the Chamber of Commerce was

Engineer for analysis.

BIDS TAKEN UNDER On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boster these

A communication signed by Jno. N. Wharton and H. Swift
was read asking permission to use the outer end of the pier for
PERMISSION AS1�ED TO installation of a boat larding for the purpose of carrying
USE END OF PIEE FOR passengers to a deep sea fishing barge. After some discussion
BOAT LANDING Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boster moved that the Clerk
be instructed to advise the applicants that it would be nec-
essary to file plans with the City Engineer for the proposed
landing before the matter can be discussed further.
The Clerk submitted a supplemental petition protesting
against further improvements on California and Huntington
PROTEST FILED FOR Avenues and in view of the fact that the matter of installing
CALIFORNIA AND HUNT- lights on Huntington Avenue had been laid on the table at
IALIFO AVENUES the last meeting Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton
moved that the petition be filed with the previous petitions
in reference to this matter, which was carried.
This being the time for hearing protests against the
issuance of bonds to cover the . unpaid assessments for the
improvement of Fourteenth Street from Palm Avenue to L2ain
Street in accordance with notices published in the Huntington
RESOLUTION #518 Beach News, the Clerk informed the Board that no protests had
PASSED AND ADOPTED been filed, therefore Resolution #518, providing for the
issuance of. these bonds was read, a copy of which is on file
in the office of the Clerk and on motion by Trustee Boster
seconded by Trustee Drew was passed and adopted by the following
vote:
Ayes: Trustees 16x1arton, Dunning, Boster, Drew, Ridenour.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
RECESS The Chair declared a short recess pending the report of the
Engineer on sewer and paving bids.

WALNUT AVE that he be awarded the contract for this work, which was carried.

teenth Street was read, a copy of which is on file in the office
of the Clerk and on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee
Drew was passed and adopted by the following vote:

Absent: None.
On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Dunning. all
G. Ill. SOUTERS bids for the improvement of Twelfth Street from Ocean Avenue
BID APPROVED FOR to Orange Avenue were rejected except that of G. M. Souter and
ORANGE AVE. G. 14. Souter was awarded the contract for this work.
Resolution #520 awarding the contract to G. 1A. Souter for
RESOLUTION +520 the improvement of Twelfth Street from Ocean Avenue to Orange
Avenue was read and on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by
Trustee Drew was passed and adopted by t&e following vote :

in block 304, Huntington Beach tract, which was carried.

The Clerk announced that this was the time set for

seconded by Trustee Dunning moved that action_ upon the
Seventh Street assessment be laid on the table until Friday

Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton moved that
the City Attorney be instructed to represent all City
CITY ATTORNEY INSTRUCT- Officials included in the injunction suit in connection
ED TO REPRES ITT CITY with the work on Seventh Street, which was carried. On
OFFICIALS IN INJUNCTION motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton the
SUIT. City Attorney was allowed a special fee of $200.00 for '
services in connection with the injunction suit in reference
to Seventh Street.
