Trustees present: Wharton, Dunning, Boster, Drew,Ridenour. ROLL CALL. Trustees- absent None . The minutes for the month of August were read and ap- 11INUTES APPROVED proved on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by .Trustee Boster. Monthly reports of the Treasurer, Clerk, Building MONTHLY REPORTS READ Inspector, Recorder, Chief of Police and Advertising Agent were AND APPII0 VED read and approved on motion by Trustee Dunning seconded by Trustee Boster. RECESS The Chair declared a short recess. The Board was again• called to order and President Ridenour invited Mr. C . A. Johnson, President of the High School Board to present the matter of closing certain streets now inter- secting the new -High School grounds. _ 11r. Johnson stated that HIGH..'SCHOOL ASKS PER- it.was ' the desire of the Board to have the City vacate Union MISSION TO CLOSE STREETS Avenue from Main Street to the westerly boundary of the High School grounds and the alley paralleling block 1904, Wesley PER1.1IISSION GRANTED Park Tract on its westerly boundary. Mr. Johnson stated that this '.would be necessary in .order to carry out_ the proposed building program on motion. by• Trustee Drev seconded by Trustee Boster the City Attorney was instructed to take the necessary ' steps to close the above street and alley. A communication signed by J. - N. Wharton and H. H. Swift was read asking the .Board for an exclusive right to install a boat landing at the outer end of the Municipal Pier for the INSTALLATION OF BOAT purpose of, transporting fishermen to a deep-sea fishing barge. LANDING ON PIER DISCUSSED The: City Engineer was asked if he was ready to report on the application of Mr. Freeman which vas presented at the last REFERRED TO ENGINEER meeting. He stated that he was not ready- to report. After FOR REPORT considerable discussion as to the best method of providing such a landing with safety to the pier, - Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boster moved that the City Engineer be instructed to consult a competent Marine Engineer and to prepare suitable plans for a boat landing in order that the board mightincorpor- ate such plans in offering a franchise to the highest bidder which was carried. ..Demands No. 4710 to I-To. 4857 inclusive as set forth in BILLS ALLO!`1,ED the Clerk's Cash Journel were approved by the Finance Committee and signed by the President of tl e Board.A t4 aj��,-rj, ecretaryGArm Armitage the Chamber of Commerce reported to SEC. ARMITAGE GIVES the- Board with reference to the agricultural contest and also :SPORTS the matter of removal of the band-stand. These matters having been recently, referred back .to the Chamber of Commerce. TRANSFER OF FUNDS On motion by Trustee' Boster seconded by Trustee Dunning the Clerk was authorized to ,transfer 0275.00 from 'the Gas Fund to the Gas •Interest and Redemption Fund #1. On motion by Trustee Boster seconded by Trustee Drew the CLERK TO ADW RTISE Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for a Ford Roadster FOR FOE ROADSTER to be used for the Gas Street -Lamps. The Gas Superintendent reported to the Board that ,it was now possible to -operate with one less man and he was therefore CHANGE, IN GAS DEPART- elimenating a pipe fitter at $125.00 per month October 1st I,�ESTT and recommended that . the salary .of L. E. Discussion of this matter was laid over for a short period. This being the time 'for setting the Tax Rate for, the fiscal year 1925-26 the Clerk read Resolution #530,. a copy of which is TAX RATE SET attached and made a portion of these minutes and on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee iharton was passed and adopted �3b by the following vote: r Ayes: Trustees Wharton, Dunning, Boster, Drew, Ridenour, Noes: None. This being - the time for receiving bids for the collection and disposal of garbage for the City for a period of three years, the Clerk opened and declared the only bid received, that of G. L. Harper and - son who proposed to render this service for $160.00 G. L HARPER AWARD- per month. On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Dunning ED CONTRACT FOR the bid of G. L. Harper and son was accepted. On motion by Trustee GARBAGE DISPOSAL Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton the City Attorney was instructed to draw up a contract with. G. L. Harper and son providing for the collection of garbage and the President of the Board was authorized to sign the same . Trustee Dunning seconded by Trustee Boster moved that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up an option to purchase contract with ATTORNEY -INSTRUCTED J. H. HUNTINGTON BEACH MOTORS The Building Inspector presented the application of—the DENIED PERMIT TO BUILD Huntington Beach 14otors for a permit to erect a small frame S1ALL BUILDING structure on lot 4 block 103, Huntington Beach Tract. Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boster moved that the application be denied as this location was in fire district No. 1 and the structure did not comply with the building ordir_ar_ce. The Building Inspector also presented the application E. L. CURTIS GRANTED of E. 'L. Curtis for permission to .move a small garage to be. PEMKIT TO 14OVE GARAGE located at 190 Ocean Avenue. This being in fire district No. 3 the Board authorized the Building Inspector to grant the permit. On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton the ADJOURNMENT. Board adjourned.
