CITY HALL OCTOBER 5 , 1925.
The regular meeting was called to order at 7 :30 P. 1,1. by
REGULAR President Ridenour.
Trustees present: Wharton, Dunning; Boster, Drew, Ridenour.
ROLL CALL Trustees absent None. .
The minutes for the month of September were read and approved
MINUTES APPROVED on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Wharton.
Various monthly reports were read and ordered placed on file

The written application_ of T. C. Vincent for approval of his
license to conduct a pool and billard hall at. 136 1:1ain Street was

Communication from the Southern Counties Gas Company was
read calling attention to the request of the Railroad Coi-mission

This being the time for receiving bids for a Ford Roadster
to be used on the gas lamp lines the Clerk opened and declared

the bid of 4if. D. Young was accepted specifying that the car be

mr. Thomas representing the Legal Department of the Pacific
Electric Railway addressed the Board at this time in reference
to a lease which his company desired to have the City enter into ,
covering the area lying between the Pacific Electric tracks and
PACIFIC ELECTRIC Ocean Avenue , between hair_ Street and Nin'.thh Street. Idr. Thomas
R. R. DKIAIM CITY informed the Board that it was the inter -of his company to

of Huntington Beach and the Pacific Electric Railroad Company.

matter was referred to -the City Attorney for investigation and
report to. the Board.
Thomas Berry, Engineer for the High School Board presented a
deed executed by the Huntington Beach Company conveying a parcel of
HIGH SCHOOL BOARD lard extending easterly from the junction of Utica Street to the

The plumbing contractors bond of Ed Manning was approved

The City Engineer submitted a diagram of the district
to be assessed for the improvement of Twelfth Street from

Engineer Billings asked for instructions relative to

Ordinance No. 276 regulating the parking of cars between
ORDINANCE #276 GIVEN two 2:00 A. III. and five 5:00 A. 11. was giver_ first reading.
FIRST READING This. Ordinance being necessary for proper use of the Street
Sweeper. I
Trustee Dr&! brought up the matter of the Garbage Contract
which was awarded to G. L. Harper and Sonon September 8th,
stating that Mr. Harper had experien_cea some difficulty in
G. L. HARPER ALLURED carrying out his plans due to the stringent County Health
FIVE DAYS TO SIGN . regulations and that during this time Mr. Harper had arrai-ged
GARBAGE CONTRACT with Charles Thomas of Seal Beach to collect the garbage and
dispose of it. After considerable discussion_ Trustee Dunning
seconded by Tr:,,s tee Boster moved that the Clerk be instructed
to give Legal Notice to G. L. Harper and Son to sign the
garbage contract within five days and that failure to do so
would be deemed a refusal to enter into such a contract, which
was carried.
CONTROLLER AUTHORIZED On motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Dunning the

Trustee Wharton brought up the matter of effecting further
economies in the City Government and suggested that some re-

to the Police Com. ittee which was carried.
TRUSTEE DUNNING The Chair announced at this time that vacancies on the

would be filled by Trustee Dunning.
On motion_ by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Dunning the
