Trustees present: 'Iharton, Dunning,. Boster, Drew, Ridenour. Y Trdstees absent Iior_e. A letter from Redondo Chamber of Co=merce was read inviting. the Board to attend a .celebration in honor of the dedication of a new lighting system which was to be held January 2nd.. The Clerk was instructed to accept the in- vitation and state that at least a part_ of the Board would attend. _ The Clerk presented a proposal of the Safe Cabinet Company for furnishing a safe _for the Engineers office which provided for a lease contract. On motion by TrListee Dunning G 9i. seconded by Trustee Wharton the President of the Board was fi authorized to sign the necessary papers covering this transac- tion. On motion. by Trustee Dralning seconded by Trustee Boster � demands Y,45M to #1-5225 bearing the approval of the Finance C.o:miittee and signed by the President of the Board were allowed. A written r.application for a pool hall license signed by Cryder and Brown as successors to Blevir_s and Vannie r was presented., the business to. be. conducted at 203 Pdlain_ Street. h The application_ borb the O• K. of Chief of Police Tinsley and or_ motion_ b-, Trustee Dunning seconded by Trustee Vi'harton was approved. This being the time for rearing appeals from the determina- tion of the Street Superintendent in the matter of assessment to cover the costs of installation of certain sewer lines along Alabama Avenue an_d other Streets and alleys in the Vista Del Llar Section in accordance with notices published in the Huntin.-ton Beach News. 'The Clerk advised the Board that no appeals had been presented, therefore , Resolution §543 approv- inZ- the assessment and ordering the warrant to be delivered to the contractor or his assigns was. .read , a copy of which is on file in the office o� the Clerk and on motion by Trustee Iuharton seconded by Trustee "Dunning was passed and adopted by the following vote : Ayes: Trusstees Ylharton., Dunning, Boster, .Drew, Ridenour. Tloes: None. Absent : None. This being the time for hearing protests against the improvement of 'thirteenth Street as set forth in Resolution A of Intention r540, the Clerk advised the Board that no protests had been filed subsequent to the public,tion_ of the afore mentioned resolution, therefore Resolution_ #544 ordering the work oil Thirteenth Street from Ocean Avenue to Palm Avenue wa.s -read,, a copy of which is on file in the office of the Clerk and on motion by Trustee Boster seconded by Trustee t,'tharton was passed and adopted by . the ib lloilring vote: Ayes: Trustees tJha rton, Dunning, Boster, Drew, Ridenour. noes : None. Absent: None. The City Engineer presented plans, numbered New Series / %- le. 35 in 2 sheets and specifications #64 providing for the improve- ment of Eighteenth Street by paving and lighting which was approved on motion by Trustee Dunning seconded by Trustee Wharton_. A license agreement issued by the Idarbeli.te Corporation_ of America authorizing the use of 11arbelite Standards on Eighteenth Street was approved on_.motion by Triistee Drew seconded by Trustee Dunning. Resolution 7r545 declarin- the. In_tm.tion of the Boa rd to. improve Eighteenth Street from 0ce,-,— Avenue to Palm Avenue by paving and lighting was read , a copy of which is on file in the office of the Clerk and on motion by Trustee ilharton seconded by Trustee Boster was - passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Wharton, Dunning, Boster, Drewt iidenour. On motion_ by Trustee Dunning seconded by Trustee Viharton a proposed amendment to - the plumbing ordin€n ce #228 was referred allto the City En ineer .for report at the next meeting. The Clerk reported on the matter of additional fire insurance on the City Buildings , stating that 20 per cent reduction in rate �y could be secured by adding $5000.00 insurance to the present t�l coverage on the City Hall and the same amount on the Auditorium. on motion by Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boster the Clergy, was instructed to,:place this amount of insurance.
