Blodget, suggested that the regular business be.� suspended for the moment to ",take up the ' _.� written request of ' tre .Standard- Oil eompany, for transfer of ,their permit for the railroad _ crossing; a.t-, 2.3rd Street and Ocean_ Avenue , this being required to carry out the reorgani.zation of the _ Standard:-O.il Company.` of California. _�c In the confirmation of this transfer, Resolution No..; 551, a copy of wkich is on file in the office of the Clerk, was read and on motion by '.Trustee Dunning seconded by Trustee Drew was passed and .adopted by the following vote. Ayes:. .Trustees Boater, , Ridenour, Wharton, Drew, Dunning. Noes;.' Trustees None, Absent: . Trustees None. The regular order of business- Was again .taken up and the monthly reports of the Clerk., Treasurer, Building Inspector and City Recorder were. read and .approved, On motion by Trustee Dunning , seconded_ by Trustee Wharton. Communication_ from the Chamber of Co'mmd,rce was read i making �. �. a request for an appropriation of $50.00. from the 'idusic3 and Promotion fund for, the. purpose of aiding in the expense of securing,a page ad in the Southern California Editor. On motion by. Trustee: Drew seconded by 'Trustee Boater the. re quest was granted . . A letter from the •County Supervisor, S. H. Finley, was .read �- relative to a trip to the Boulder Dam Site but no action was _taken. Superintendent of the Gas Department asked for authority to purchase meters and..necessary equipment to be used in checking. the quantity. of gas delivered by, the Southern . Counties Gays Company. He explained that up to the �-r present time,Jthe City has had no means of .determining Ile the accuracy of the meter owned and. operated by the Southern Counties Gas Company' which measured the gas to the Citys. ©n motion by _Trustee Dunning' seconded by Trustee Murton the Gas _Super'intendent was authorized to purchase the necessary equipment. Demands No. 5615 to 5731, as shown on the. Clerk's cash journai, having. been approved by the Finance Committee and signed, by ,the. President of the Board, were allowed. This being the time for hearing appeals from the determin- _ ation of the Street Superintendent in the matter of. assessments for the improvement of 13th Street m-d other streets as provided for in resolution of Intention No;. 540, the Clerk informed , the Board that no appeals had been' filed prior to the' date of hearing and after examination of the assessment, Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Dunning moved that the. assessment be approved. THEREFORE, Resolution No. 552 approving the assess- ment and ordering. the warrant in favor of the Contractor, �oTP-was read, a copy of which is on file in the office of. the Clerk and' on motion. by 'Trustee Drew seconded by Trustee Boater, was passed and adopted by _the followths vote. Ayes: Trustees B.oster, V►harton, Ridenour, Dunning, Drew. Noes: Tnzstees None. Absent: Trustees None. City Engineer _Billings,, 'requestEd "the Board-to advertise for bids for s apply ing_':the ."City With—& fire box boiler of .25 to 21.0 horse..power capa.eity to be used in heating waste oil .at' Lake Park;. also for a gas engine ,of :6 to 10 horse power capacity to. be used- in pumping oil at the same location. On motion by .Trustee Drew, seconded by Trustee Wharton the City Clerk'was instructed to advertise for bids on the above mentioned equipment.
