Trustees Absent: Dunning, Drew.. The.. chair appointed Trustee .Wharton to act on the finance committee in the absence of Trustee Drew. Contractors surety _bonds were approved as follows: Brea Electric Company, San Pedro Electric Company, Signal Hill Electric Co..., J. B. Smith. Company..,. housem.overse The chair declared -a short recess at this time. The meeting was again called to order. This being the time for receiving bids on a steam $oller in accordance with a notice published in the South- west Builder and Contractor, .the Clerk opened and declared the- following bids. L,: De Carie 30 795.00 On motion by. Trustee Boster, seconded by Trustee Wharton these bids were referred to the City Engineer for analysis to be submitted at ,the next meeting. On. motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Bos ter, demands number 57W to 5754 inclusive having been approved by the Finance committee and signed by the President" of the Board, were allowed. This being the time for canvassing. the returns of the General Municipal election, held April 12th, 1926, in accordance with legal provisions, the Board examined the returns and declared their findings -as set forth in Resolution No. 552, a copy of which is included and made a part of these munutes, and on motion by. Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Boster, Resolution No. 552, declar- ing the result of the General Municipal Election held April 12, ' '1926, passed and. adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Trustees Wfharton,. Boster, Ridenour. . Noes: Trustees None. Absent: Trustee Dunning, Drew There being, no further business before this Board , 1 Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Boster, moved that the Board adjourn sine die ,_ dvhich. was carried. The chair called the newly elected officers Orville R. Harris and Janes W. Mitch6ll to come forward. and take � the constitutional oath of office , which was adini:nistered by the Clerk and after signing their oaths of office , certificates of election were delivered to each of the new members.. 213 The chair. announced that nominations were in order for President of' the Board for the' cr_suing'" two-years. Trustee Mitchell seconded by. Trustee Harris, moved" that C. G. 'Boster be appointed President of the Board to serve for two years , which was carried. President Ridenour then turned the gavel over to., the newly elected President.. President Boater announced that., the new members had expressed a desire for a complete audit of the City books by a bonded .audit. company., and requested them to express themselves on the subject. Trustee Mitchell seconded by Trustee Harris, moved that a committee be appointed to arrange for an- audit of City books for four years, by a bonded audit co.mpary,_. which was carried by, the following vote. . Mr. Thediech was invited to come forward at this time and present his surety bond in the penal sum of $500.00, bearing the signatures of G. A. Shark and Ift. Noes: Trustees None.' Ab'se•nt: Trustees IJone. • Trustee Mitchell called attention to the necessity for prompt action in regard to regulations of oil drilling in . the V estern portion- of the City. This matter was referred to the Building. and Improvement Committee by the chair, for , report at the next meeting. The Clerk administered the constitutional oath to C. J. Yost as Street Superintendent and C. G. I�eynolds as ,® Advertising manager. Trustee Harris , seconded by Trustee_ '.iltchell moved that L. E. Llitchell 'be appoir_ted : to act temporarily as Clerk in the 'Engiheering office to take care of building permits etc'.. until an Engineer be employed. ��,, �. . which was carried 'by the following vote. President .Boste'r then read a statement concerning -a pledge of his 'administration, ar_d outlining some policies. He then invited those having matters to discuss to do-so at this time. Urs. Minnie Higgins addressed the Board in reference to the absence of an American Flag in the Council _room may" and:-also in the public hall. IlArs. C. Frances Clark called the attention of the .Board to the bathing suits worn on the beach. Vim. Potts, ;discussed the public ownership of odean frontage and the serving of meals in drug stores. on motion by Trustee Harris , seconded by Trustee , Wharton the Board adjourned until 8:-, P. A.
