Pursuant to adjournmert .April,. 21s.t,. 1926, the meeting was called : to order at -8:0r:�_.P., 14. by., President Boster in the Public Hall.. A large- number of people present.. in the Council Room at the time for op.enir_g the meeting wre unable to find seats, .therefore President Buster Y announced that the Board would hold their meeting- in the Public Hall in order that all might have seats. Trustees Present: Wharton, Mitchell , Harris, Boater.. 4j?6-& Trustees Absent: Ridenour. A communication from James G. Stafford tax expert, was read'; also a letter from Ray..,-S. McAllister, cer- tified public accountant of Long Beach- was read with reference to the contemplated audit of City, books'. This was placed on file for future reference : President Boster announced that the proposed Ordinance regulating .the drilling--for oil within the City limits would now be discussed. City Attorney.,Thedieck announced that, the reading of the proposed Ordinance at the meet- ing of April 21st,, was not intended as a first reading of the Ordinance , but ws's solely for the purpose of inviting comment and discussion.. Mr. O'Connor then addressed .the Board offering a �✓ draft of an Ordinance that had been prepared in' a con- ference of the oil. operators interested . After this draft of an Ordinance was read by the Clerk the Board. went into executive session. Upon the Board 's return to the Auditorium Stage , discussion was again s- taken up and ,after full opportunity .had .been given for, discussion, Ordinance No. 280 regulating the drilling for oil within certain described areas of Huntington Beach. was given first, reading at 10:20 F. 11. April 23rd, 1926. Ordinance No. 281, was given first reading at this _ time , amending Ordinance No. 224, which provides for levying .a business license upon oil derricks. This first reading was completed at 10:45 P. - 11. . April 23rd, 1926. An application of the Southern Countie s Gas Company for a permit to lay pipe lines and serve industrial and oil field fuel within the area bounded by., ;17 th Street, Ocean_ Avenue ,.. ILVenty-third Street and Palm Avenue , was read. Applicant agrees to pay to the City of- Huntington Beach lg cents per 1000- cubic feet for 'all' gas delivered into the above . desc.ribed area by,_themselves. On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by, Trustee Harris, the permit requested by the Southern Counties Gas Company was granted and the President authorized to sign the same , by the following vote. ,Ayes: Trustees I7harton, 1:Zitchell , Harris , Boster. Noes': Trustees Vone.
