HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926-04-28 219 . CITY HALL APRIL 28,1926 Pursuant to adjournment April 23rd the regular meeting was called order at 8 o 'clock. P.M.by President Boster. Trustees Present: Wharton;Mitchvll ,Harris,Boster " Absent Ridenour A communication was read relative to location of the band 'stand which bore the signature of` Tdrs.S.Champion.No action taken. An application for a permit to erect a real estate office at the corner of 17th and Ocean Ave was referred to the committe on building and improvement. An application of the Mutual Gasoline. Co. for permit to lay pipe lines ffov transporting gas in the Western portion of the city (� was presented at this time. The chair announced that an ordinance had been prepared relative to additional regulation of oil drilling and as some members of the Vey,i board had not had opportunity to go over the. proposed measure he would declare a short recess in order that they. might discuss the matter. The meeting. was again called - to order and the chair invited Mr. Reed of Anaheim,PVlanager of the Valencia Orange Show to address •the Board at this time. Mr.Reed solietted general co-operation and \� asked the Board to send the Municipal Band to represent the City. The matter was taken under advisement. Ordinance No.282 providing certain_ regulation of oil drilling was given first reading. The application of the Mutual Gasoline Co. for a pipe line permit was again taken up and on motion oof Trustee Mitchell seconded by ' Trustee Harris the matter was referred to the Pres. of the Board and t the City Attorney for investigation and report at the next meeting The Bldg. and Imp. committe reported that plans were being drain for public rest room on the outer end of, the Pier. Trustee Harris brought up. the matter of a number of pools of stagnant water standing since the recent rains and providing breeding places for mosquitoes-This was called to the attention of the Street Supt. Trustee Mitchell brought up the question of heavy .trucking over 17 street and suggested that trucks from inland could be divertd on Palm Ave. In connection with this discussion Jos. Lacy asked. what l would be the rule as to driving over curbs in the district just opened for drilling.-He was advised by the chair that it would riot be permitted as there were alleys in all of the blocks . Trustee Wharton suggested that a good location for the band stand w L would be at the left of the Pier near the shore line to be erected on piling and glassed in on the oceanward side. The advertising manager informed the board that he had arranged with r the High School to prepare A display_at the orange show if the city would •supply. the material same to coat about fifty dollars. 11 a7AA"P On motion_ by Trustee Wharton Seconded by Trustee Mitchell the board app.ropria$ed. the cost of .the material for the Orange Show display. Pres.Bbster stated that salary of the motorcycle officer had been called to his attention,it having been the practice in the past to pay175.00 the first year of service ,190.00the 2nd and 200.00 thereafter.Mr.Parkers first year expired on Feb.17th last and on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris the motorcycle • officers salary was authorized at $190.00 1791926 per month effective Feb. The chair announced that -it would be necessary to wait until after midnight to give second readings of Ordinances Nos 280 and 281 in order for five full dpcys to have passed between readings as midnight was the legal basis for calculation of time therefore a recess was declared at. 10-14 P.M. the meeting to be called to order again at 11-50P.M. -nr.a?e Ordinance No.280 was givem second reading at 12-10 A.M. April 29, 1926. Trustee Mitchell seconded -by. Trustee Harris moved the adoption • of Ord.No.280 as amended and read which was carried by thefollowing r vote Ayes-Trustees •Whart�n Mitchell Harris Boster Noes-None Absent Trustees-Ridenour 220 n Minutes of April 289 29 1926 continued Ordinance N0281 was given second reading -at 12-25 A.M. April 29,1926 and on motion_ by. Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Trustee Mitchell was passed and adoptdid by the following vote Ayes Trustees- Wharton Mitchell Harris Boater ' Noes None Absent TM Ridenour On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell the Board adjourned. .
