Pursuant to adjournment of May 6th the meeting was called to
order at 8:00 o 'clock PM by president Boater.
Roll Call . Trustees present, Boater,Wharton;Mitchell ,Ridenour,Harris.

stituted in pending
. litigation.. adking for disposition of cases now pending,. and on motion by
Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Mitchell , City Attorney

A. J. Thedieck was substituted to handle all pending .cases by the
f oll owing vote:
Ayes , Trustees Wharton,Mitchell , Harris, Boater,
Noes, Trustee Ridenour.
Application by The application of Sam Clapp to move small house from 20th

the present building ordinance be complied with.
South Sea Island. -On motior_ .by .Ridenour, seconded by Trustee Harris, the
Concession.
clerk was instructed to confer further with La Rue Hillaker
of Sffi to Monica with reference to building and running a "South
Sea" island establishment on the beach, it being. the desire of
the Board to know the kind and location of structures proposed
to be built.

MOE.Rosson Appointed President Bos.ter .stated that. this was. the time agreed upon

for the appointment of a_ City. Engineer, thereupon Trustee Wharton
seconded by Trustee Ridenour offered , the nomination of Jack k
Colvin, Trustee Mitchell , seconded by Trustee Harris nominated
Merwin Rosson of Santa Ana,. who was appointed by the following
vote:
Ayes, Trustees Mitchell , Harris, Boater.
Noes, Trustees Wharton,. Ridenour.
Issuance of Bonds for This being the time for hearing protests against the
Unpaid Assessments
Improvement of 13th issuance of bonds covering the unpaid assessments for work done

on 13th and other streets as set forth in .Resolut3ion of Intention
No.540, the clerk infarmed the Board that no protests had been
filed therefore Resolution No. 554, providing for the issuance
of Bonds covering the unpaid assessments was read, a copy„o,f which i
is on file in the office of the City Clerk.
At this time the City Attorney .asked for a short recess in
which to .check over the prodeedirgs before the chair entertained
a motion to issue the Bonds, after which the meetz.ng was again

Wharton, seconded by, Trustee Mitchell ,. Resolution No. 554 was

the Municipal Pier was again. referred to the building . cmmmittee

Appointment. of The matter of appoir_t,ing a City Controller_. was laid over

Repassing of Ord. At this. time Trustee Wharton stated that he was of the opinion
280. & 281 proposed.
that Ordinances 280 and 281 were invalid for the reason_ that they
received their first reading in the Cites Auditorium instead of
the City Hall. Some discussion followed in which Trustee Ridenour
agreed that such might be the case, while Trustee Boster and
Attorney Thedieck held to the opinion that these Ordinances were
prope rly_.,passed and therefore valid. A motion by T.m etee Wharton,
seconded by .Trustee.. Ridenour that Ordinances. 280 and 281 be re-
passed was lost by ,the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees Wharton, Ridenour,
Noes, Trustees Mitchell , Harris, Boster.
Absent, Trustees None.
Motion to Declare Motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Ridenour
Vacant office of
Adv.Mgr. Lost. that the position of Advertising manbger now held by C.G.Reynolds ,
be declared vacant lost by ,the following vote:
Ayes, Trustees Wharton, Ridenour.
