Pursuant in adjournment of Msy. lOth, the meeting was called
to order ht 8:00 D'clock PM by President Boster.
Roll Call Trustees present: Boster,. Wharton, Mitchell, Ridenour, Harris.
Trustees Absent, None .
Clerk pro-tem In the absence of City Clerk W.R.Wrigh t,. on motion by Trustee
Harris , seconded by Trustee Mitchell and carried, Trustee Wharton
was appointed to act as Clerk of the Board pro-tem.

Delinquent Gas Bill. A communication from Supt. of the Gas Department asking for
disposition of a delinquent gas, bill was referred to the Gas
Committee for investigation.
Associated oil Co. Application No. 330 of the Associated Oil Company to lay
Permit to open Street.
4" and 6" oil lines along portions of Wesley, Park and Loma
Avenues was on motion by, Trustee Ridenour, Seconded by Trustee
Wharton, referred to the City Engineer with power to act.
Proposal to handle A communication signed. by Arof Akof and his attorney,
City s rubbish and
t Trash. C.C.Norton asking the Board for permission to submit a bid for
the handling of the City's. rubbish and trash was read, and the
applicants were advised b the chair to prepare and present their
written proposition at the next regular meeting of the Board,
June 7 th.
Transfer of Funds On motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Mitchell
from M&P to General
the City Clerk was authorized to make certain transfers as per
list now on file from the Music and Promotion to the General fund
on account of error in classification of the original entftes,
also that the salary and expense of the life guard. be charged to
the: general frond instead of th the Music and Promotion Fund.
Sigh Boards. Ordinance No. 283 regulating the eo)nstruction of sign
boards within the City received its first reading at this time.
Mutual Gasoline Co. , Mr. White, representative of the Mutual Gasoline Company
Pipe Line Permit
addressed the Board and asked that certain changes be made in
tha- contract permitting his Compeuy to lay pipe lines and trans-
port gas in the City. After some discussion, it was agreed to
between Mr. White and the Board that the matter be laid over for
further discussion and 8:00 o 'clock PM, May 21st being made the
time for further discussion.
Fire Hydrants The matter of installing additional fire hydrants in the
West of 17 th St
newly opened oil area was referred to the fire chief for inves-
tigation and his recommendations.
Reporting on the claim of Gertrude Ward, 13th and Olive
Avenue, Attorney Thedieck stated that upon investigation he found
that some slight damage may have been done, but that he doubted
if any liability laid with .the City, but recommended that the

account Street if the cost was small to repair wherever necessary. Supt. of

Streets Yost stated that he was inspector at the time of the al-
leged damage and felt certain that the claim was large in pro-
portion to the actual damage done.
Demands allowed. On motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Ridenour,
demands 5862, 5863, 5864 and 5865 were allowed and ordered paid.
Band Stand The matter of a band stand was discussed at some length,

ing from Auditorium. in which President Boster stated that the suggestion had been
made to allow the band to use the City Auditorium and broadcast
b the Beach, 17th St. Park, Circle Park and the 'Municipal Auto
Park, and stated that any suggestions along this line would be
heard. Mr. McIntosh of the McIntosh Electric Company was re-
quested to secure further information as to probable cost of
such a system and report to the Board at next meeting.
Septic Tank Mr. E. L. Ferguson, representing Burns-McDonnell-Smith, of
Marsh-Strong Building,, Los Angeles , addressed the Board relative
toy repair of the septic tank stating that it was in need of re-
pairs. No action was taken other than to record the name and
address of his Company for future reference.

the Board Adjourned.
