HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926-06-14 237 r ` M I N U T E S City Hall, Monday June 14th,1926 Pursuant to adjournment of June 7th, the regular meeting I:Ieeting called was called to or der at 7 :45 PM by President Boaster in the to order Council Chamber : Trustees present, Mitchell,Harris ,Bostere • Trustees Present Trustees Absent , Whharton,Ridenour. On motion by Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Mitchell the Surety Bond of the Superior oil Company in the penal sum Bond of Superior of $500 to engage in the Elactrical contract business was Oil CO3Eletrical approved and ordered placed on file. The President asked the Clerk to read the Contract 4th of July of the Hitt Fireworks Company of Los Angeles in which it was fire wirks roposed to furnish the Cit with fireworks for 4th of July elebration for the sum of t750 and additional advertising matter for the sum of 052.50. After some discussion, on motion by Trustee- Mitchell, seconded by Trustee Harris and carried, the President of the Board was authorized to enter into an agreement with the Hitt Fireworks 8ompany on behalf of the City, a copy of which agreement is on file in the office of the City Clerk. At this time. Dr V E Presson of the County Health HeAlth- an d Department was given permission to address the Board SAnitation Dr relative to matters pertaining to the duties of his office V E Presson of and recommending that the City of Huntington teach enter into Santa -na an agreement with the County Office to handle the City's addressed the health and santtation problems. Dr Presson assured the Board Board that should this City enter into such an agreement it would be well and properly taken care of. The President advised Dr Presson that the matter would be taken under consideration but no, action was taken by the Board. Trustee WhRrton Trustee Whartin arrived at 8:15 o'clock P M. arrives H V Anderson manager of the Huntington Be.-,ch `Hater Company asked to be heard which was granted.Mr Anderson called attention H B ryater Co to pipe lines now being laid and proposed to be laid in the H V Anderson new oil territory, and advised against allowing these lines re-pipe lines being laid in the alleys statin# that the water might become in alleys contaminated, also that the network of pipe -lines would would cause his Company and the City extra expense in locating trouble and leaks in T+lister and Gas lines to the future. Mr J A Scott addressed the Board relative to furnishing J A Scott advertising space in the news Rapers of neighboring cities on advertisirt tIze rate of $18 per page or g500 for a series of pages. On motion by Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Wharton the matter was taken under advisement. Trustee Mitchell told the Board that interested citizens Extra fire were asking for additional fire hydrants in the vicinity hydrants of the intersection of Florida and Utica Streets. The matter wanted on was referred to the Fire Chief to look into and advise the East Side Board before any action could be taken. At this time Ordinance No 284 regulating the construction Ord 284-285 of structures and tents on the Ocean front, and Ordinance first No 285 amending Ordinance No 68 regulating the construction reading of buildings in the new oil territory were given their first reading by the Clerk of the Board. The City Engineer presented plans and specifications for Plans for the construction of rest room on the outer end of the Pier rest Municipaj -Pier. On Motion by Trustee "llharton, seconded by room Trustee arris the plans and specifications were approved and adopted and the City Clerk ordered to advertise for bids for the construction of same. A Mr Warner addressed the Board relative to handling the City Trash City trash on Contract, the President referred Mr Warner to the City Attorney. The Clerk read an application from the Sun Oil Company asking Sun oil Co permission to lay a temporary pipe line on tip of the ground Wipe 1ine in the parkway along Park and Union Avenues. On Motion by trustee 238 INharton, seconded by Trustee Mitchell the request was denied. On Motion by Trustee S-harton, seconded by Trustee Mitchell Barris '& Frank the request of Harris and Frank_ for protected space for 25 Picnic private automobiles was granted and the Clerk was instructed to June 27th notify the Chief of Police to select the parking space and render such assistance as required at the Harris & Frank Picnic party to be held on Ju}ie 27th. On motion by Trustee `Jharton, seconded by Trustee Friends Harris the Street Superintendent was instructed to supply Church "picnic tables to seat 200 at the Alamitos Friends Church picnic June 17th on June 17th.
