COUNCIL CHAMBER, City Hall, July 6th,1926
The regular meeting was called to order at 8:00 o'clock P M
by president Boster.•
C Trustees present: Boster,Wharton,Mite tell,Harris
Trustees absent: Ridenour.
The Clerk read the minutes for the month- of June and on motion
by Trustee Wharton; seconded by Trustee Harris same were approved.
An application of Mr D B Fowler asking for permission ,to
throw Tract No 799.,near the town of Talbert back into acreage
was on motion by Trustee Wharton, seeonded by Trustee Mitch6ll
granted and the Clerk requested to witness same.
The matter of contracting for the disposal of trash and
rubbish.was laid over until such time as the Board deems it
to the best interst of the City to again take the matter up.
,4, Those present interested in entering into a contract to
dispose of trash were so advised.
The Clerk read a letter from City Attorney Thedieck addressed
v _ to the board in which he advised the Board that he had forwarded
!� to the Clerk of the Superior Court an Order of Dismissal in the
Pro action entitled City of Huntington Beach , r vs-Huntington
Beach Company,Pacific Electric Company et al, an action based
on adverse possession of a portion of the right of way through
this City.
Attorney Thedieck also made a short talk in support of
this action. Trustee Wharton asked that a. brief be made up
by the City Attorney and presented to the Board in the near
future which was agreed to by City Attorney.
At this time the clerk read the monthly reports of
City Clerk;City Treasurer, City. Engineer and City Recorder
covering the month of June and on motion by Trustee Harrisp
seconded by Truetdg Mitchell 'osame were accepted and ordered
placed on file,
On motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Harris
the Bond of City Engineer Merwin Rosson was approved and ordered
placed on file in the Clerk's office.
in The Clerk read RESOLUTION NO 554 relative to cleaning weeds
from the streets and alleys and on motion by Trustee Harris
seconded by Trustee Mitchell was passed and adopted by the
following vote :
Ayes Trustees WHARTON,MITCHELL, HARRIS.BOSTER,
Noes Trustees None
Absent Trustees Ridenour.
�pf,,, This being the time for opening bids for furnishing labor
and material for the construction of rest rooms on the outer
end of the Municipal Pier, the Clerk read the following being
abl bids received:

Accompanied by Cashier's check for $175.66
and on motion by Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Mitchell
all bids were referred to the City Engineerto compare figures with
estimate and report at the next regular meeting.
Bids for enlarging the Clerk' s office were as follows,

and on motion by Trustee �arris, seconded by Trustee Wharton
the bid of Green and Underwood was accepted and the City Engineer
instructed to order the work done.

The President asked if any one in the audience had any matters
to bring before the Board* at -this time 'and in response Mrs Frances
- Clark addressed the Board stating that she represented the `romans
Relief Corps in an effort to prevail on the members of the Board
to salute the flag before going into session at each meeting, she
also complimented the Board for the successful man.- er in which
the 4th of July celebration was conducted.
Mr C N Patrick addressed the Board relative to Resolution No 554,
prescribing rules and regulations for weed cleaning. Mr Patrick
objected to property owners being compelled to pay for removing weeds
from the City streets and alleys, and suggested that this be done
from tax funds in the same manner as other street cleaning. .
The Chair at this time announced a short recess for the purpose
of auditing and signing demands on the City.
Meeting again called to order at 10:20 PM by President Boster.
The Ch it asked what was the pleasure of the Board relative to
Mrs Clark srequest that the Board salute the flag, and' on motion

by Trustee .,arrfon, seconded by Trustee Whart.onland carried the
Board pledged its self to make the proper salute at the opening

The Clerk at this time upon request of the Chair read the
Report of the audit of the City's books by John P Walker, accountant
of Long: Beach, alifornia.
A short ,discussion follnwe,d' in which Mr Walker was asked to
explain apme-�porti,ons .of�the report in detail which he did, also
ffering s'o,MIe suggesti!ora -for:,,improvdment-rof the City°s book keeping
ethods. On motion by Trustee `Nharton, seconded by Trustee Mitchell
the report:wasAkocpte&_-as '-,r.ead:"b&d';the,,CityoClerk was instructed
o have same published in full in the news paper.
On motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Harris demands
numbered 5983 to 6150 inclusive were approved, allowed and ordered
paid.
Trustee Harris brought up the subject of Health and Sanitation
with special reference to the employement of the County Health
�! department, stating that he had investigated the matter and that
he was of the opinion that it would be both a saving and an
advantage to � this City to enter into Contract with the County
health department officials for serving Huntington Beach. .
On motion by Trustee Harris, seconded by Trustee Mitchell
the City Attorney was instructed to prepare such a contract
covering one year and that the City execute the Contract.
The City Engineer was instructed to inquire into the complaint
of citizens re automobiles and trucks using the pier for delivery
of merchandise and report at next meeting.
There being no further business on motion by Trustee Harris,.
seconded by Trustee Mitchall t)te Board adjourned until 7:30
