CITY HALL Monday August 2nd, 1926
The Regular Meeting was called to order at 8:00 o'clock PIA by
REGULAR President Boater.
Trustees present Boater, Wharton, Mitchall, Harris.
ROLL CALL Trustee Ridenour arrived at 8-:15 P M.
Minutes far the month. of July read, and on motion by Trustee
MINUTES APPROVED Wharton seconded by Trustee .Mitchell same were approved as read.
A letter from the Orange County- Fair- Association addressedto
ORANGE COUNTY the Board asking that this City furnish a Band for one day between
FAIR Sept Gth and llth was read. And on motion be Trustee Wharton
seconded by. trustee Harris the request was granted and the Clerk
instructed to so advise the Fair- Association.
The Clerk read a letter of ,appreciation from Saunders Brothers
of Whittier thanking the Board, Advertising manager Reynolds and
SAUNDERS BROTHERS others for the hospitality shown themselves and friends at their
picnic recently held on the Beach.
A letter from the City Clerk of the City of Pomona as
permission to. hang. banners across Main Street announcing the County
Fair 'to be held in Pomona Sept. .28 to October 2nd was read, and upon
LETTER FROM CITY consent of. the Board the President instructed the Clerk to advise
OF POMONA Pomona that the request would be granted.
At this time the Clerk read the monthly reports of the City
Clerk, City Treasurer, City Engineer. and ,City Recorder and on
MONTHLY REPORTS motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by_,Trustee, Harris same were approved
READ & APPROVED. as read and ordered placed on file.
Dr. V. G. Presson addressed the Board relative to a contract
DR. V. Go PRESSON to be entered into between this City and the County Health Department.

The Last named was in response to the Southern Counties Gas
SOUTHERN COUNTIES Company's Application for blanket permit to lay gas lines in the
GAS COMPANY newly. opened oil district for the purpose of furnishing gas to oil
wells,... On motion by, Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell
the . City .Engineer was granted . permission to issue, a blanket permit
installations to be made in accordance with City Ordinances.
The following,- bonds after having been examined and approved
by the City Attorney were read:

On motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by, Trustee Mitchell
the application of the Wilshire Oil Company. to cut down curbing and
' WILSHIRE OIL construct an 18 foot driveway 80 feet south of intersection of
COMPANY 21st St, lot 7 Block 120 was granted.
The application of the Ambassador Petroleum Company -to
install driveway lot 6 Block 318 was on motion by„Trustee Whartot
• AMBASSADOR PETROLEUXeconded by Trusteee Harris granted subject to the supervision of

City Engineer Rosson advised the Board that the Southern
SOUTHERN COUNTIES Counties Gae .Company..had agreed to construct a concrete vault
GAS COMPANY with man hole cover .at Hampshire a nd . Indianapolis Streets.
The . Clerk read a requisition by,Chief of Police Tinsley for ,
a, new automobile, for, the kPolice Department stating..that the 1922
OF POLICE Husdson speedster now in service was unsafe for fast driving.

NEW AUTOMOBILE POLICE
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by. Trustee Harris the City
Clerk was instructed to advertise for a car suitable and agreeable
to the Chief of .Police, it. being understood that the Hudson
Speedster now in service be. turned in as part payment for new car
provided the Chief of Police so desired.
City. Engineer Rosson, submitted an estimate on the cost of
a sewer. to" take, care of the new high school the total of which
HIGH SCHOOL SEWER was $2650.00. After some discussion it was decided by the Board
to lay the matter over pending further discussion with the high '
school Board.. Judge C W Warner informed the Board that he had
had .charge -of digging .ce ss pool. .for the old high shhool and that
there was...only about 6 feet of "drainage sand of a poor quality
ana , was of the opinion that a cess pool for the new school would
be .inadequit.
IMPROVEMENT OF CLAY City..Engineer Rosson submitted an estimate for the improvement
& HAMPSHIRE of Clay and Hampshire avenues totaling_ �4500,, of which amount
the County would stand $1260. of the expense making the net cost
to the. City of, $3240.00. On motion by.. Trustee Mitchell seconded
'VN9R1.VR€DD by Trustee Harris the City. .Engineer was instructed to continue the
improvement of Hampshire Avenue.
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris the
HIGH SCHOOL SEWER . chair was. authorized to appoint a committee of two to confer
with the High School Board in the matter of constructing a
Sewer to take care of the new school buildings. •
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris the
CITY AUDITORIUM City- Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the
TABLE WARE City Auditorium with silverware and tableware sufficient to
serve 250 people. ` .:
The matter of purchasing 96ditiona1 -chairs was laid over
PURCHASING CHAIRS until a future meeting.
DEMANDS On motion by. Trustee ,Wharton seconded by, Trustee Harris
demands numbered 6132 to e26v were approved and ordered paid.
The matter of flllowing donkeys on the beach front was
ALLOWING DONKEYS ON .discussed at length and on motion by Trustee Harris seconded by
BEACH FRONT Trustee Mitchell they are to be allowed to be used in connection
with amusement concessions up to and East of the municipal pier
during low tide and �ept back of .second street during. high tide.
This permission to be revocable ,at any time by the Board.
On. motion by Trustee Harris seconded .by Trustee' Mitchell
ERECT SERCH"LIGHT permission was granted to properly erect a serch light on the
ON 112UNICIPAL PIER municipal pier the City. to stand the expense of furnishing
electricity- fox -lighting same.
The_ matter. of. donation of $50 August 15th to Pomona College
POMONA COLLEGE boys was tabled .without action. Also the matter of advertising
in .the Santa Ana. Register was taken under advisement.
Advertising manager Reynolds advised the Board that there
was a balance * of . $180 due on the public address system and asked
PUBLIC ADDRESSPU that the city make up . the deficit. After some discussion on motion
SYSTEM by, Trustee. Mitchell seconded by .Trustee Harris the Cleric was
autho.rized_ to prepare a warrant in the amount of $100 payable
to Air C G Reynolds reimbursing him. tor an equal amount of advanced
payment.
On motion by. Trustee Mitchall seconded by Trustee Harris
ORDINANCE the City Attorney was instructed to draft a plumbing Ordinance
to conform with the State Law.
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris
the City Engineer was. instructed to prepare plans and specifications
HIGH SCHOOL for the construction of a sewer connecting with the new high school
SEDER grounds and present at the next meeting of the Board.

f DETROIT ST.FROM` The matter of removing. trees-.and-.improving :by grading Detroit,
ALABAMA TO CALIF. Street. from Alabama. _to California was.- referred . to the City engineer
for. investigation. and report.
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris
RESOLUTION No Resolution No 555 inviting the League of Municipalities to hold
its 1927 meeting: at Sacramento was passed and adopted by the
following vote:
Ayes Trustees Wharton,. Mitchell, . Ridenour., Harris, Boster
Noes Trustees, None
Absent Trustees none.
Thereupon the City Clerk was instructed to send a copy of
Resolution-No555 . to the League of Municipalities and to the
resolution f City of Sacramento.
ex The matter oz a two weeks vacation on full pay for all
x city employees was referred to the City, attorney, to report on
VACATION at next meeting.
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by .Trustee Mitchell the
ADJOURMENT Board adjourned until 2:00 o'clock PM Wednesday August llth.
