HomeMy WebLinkAbout1926-12-13 26 M I N U T E S City Hall,December 13th,1926. Pursuant to adjournment of December 6th,the meeting was called to order at 7:00 o 'clock P M by President Boster. Trustees present; Boster,Wharton,Mitchell,Ha.rris, Trustees absent Shank. On motion by Trustee Ha,rris, seconded by Trustee Wharton the Housemover Bond Surety Bond of 0 S Onestad,house mover was accepted and ordered placed on file. The matter of transferring the garbage contract from C S Thomas Assignment of to Gerald B Thomas as per their letter of November 30th,which was Garbage Cont. read to the Board December 6th at their regular meeting,was again taken up,and om motion by Trustee Mitchell, seconded by Trustee Harris permission was granted C S Thomas to assign his contract�??� h the City to Gerald B Thomas for the unexpired term of the 1�9a V:same to take effect immediately with the provision that Gerald B Thomas file surety Bond in the amount of $500 with the City. Application of the Standard Machine: Company to cut .curb and Driveway install driveway Junction of Acacia and Alabama was on motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Wharton granted. 1 On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell Real estate Chas A Draper was granted permission to erect a real estate office Office 8 x 10 feet on lot 1 Block 112. On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell, Sheet Iron H Markham was granted permission to erect a sheet iron addition to addition building at 309 Walnut Avenue,same to be done under the supervision i of the City Building inspector. On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris the City Foamite Controller was authorized to purchase a new foamite $ank and apparatus for the fire department in the amount bof $510,this being Tank an emergency on account of imminent dangerrof fire in the new oil � distrtot the formality of advertising for bids to be dispensed with. On motion by Trustee Whar'toml seconded by Trustee Mitchell the Sell fire City Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids for the sale of the Dept Ford Ford Truck and chemical apparatus and to make inquiries looking to the sale of same. The Clerk read letters from the Southern California Edison Co and Careless' E H Cookingham complaining- of the carelessmess of house movers in house movers breaking telephone and high tension wires without permission or notice, and asked that the Board take action to regulate house movers. At this time the Clerk gave Ordinance No 291,regulating the Ord 291 construction of buildings and defining fire districts its second and ` last reading and on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris Ordinance No 291 was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Harris,Boster Noes Trustees None ' Absent Trustee Shank The Clerk gave ordinance No 292 regulating the obstruction of Ord 292 streets its second and final reading and on motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Harris,Ordinance No 292 was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Harris,Boster Noes Trustees None Absent Trustee Shank The Clerk gave Ordinance No 293 and Ordinance No 294 their Ord 293 first reading. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Mitchell, L R Darst was grantee permission to board in porch at 215 5th Street. 4 The President appointed Trustee Mitchell to act on the finance Finance committee in the absence of Trustee Shank. On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris demands Demands numbered 6$95 to 6898 were approved and ordered paid. - r Y 275 (meeting Dec 13th continued) O9ay� z- 7 Lighting On motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee Harris the City Hunting-g Engineer was instructed to prepare plans,profiles and spec fications ton Ave for the improvement of certain portions of Huntington Avenue by the installation of an ornamental lighting system. r Streets For the information of those who petitioned the Council to open east side certain streets on the East Side ,the Chair stated that in order for the Board to act it would be necessary to first submit deeds converting the proposed streets to the City. On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell the Purchase City Controller was authorized to sign requisition of the City truck engineer for the purchase of a set of truck scales. This being an scales emergency measure to protect the City Streets from damage done by overloaded trucks the formality of advertising for bids to be waived.
