Ell Trustees present: Whartom,Mitchell,Harris,Shank,Boster. Trustees absent : None Immediately after calling the meeting to order the president Recess Acct declared a recess for the purpose of preparing and discussing Gas discussioncertain papers in connection with the groposed purchase of the Gas Department by the Southern Counties Gas Company. I � Meeting again called to order at .5:10 PM by President Boster. The President invited those in the audiance having matters to bring before the Board to do so at this time. Wm H Hughes addressed the- Board asking permission to alter and Bldg Ord. make certain repairs on the building at 126 Main Street and was advised by the Chair that the Building Committee would investigate and report back. The Clerk read a letter signed by the members of the Board of 250 ft Trustees of the Huntington Beach Grammar School asking to be School Bldg heard in the matter of raising oil drilling- restrictions within Oil Restric- 250 feet of any public school building, The President instructed the tions Clerk to notify the Grammar School Board that the City Trustees would meet with them in informal session at the City Attorney 's office at 7 o 'clock P 1A, Tuesday December 21st,1926. rJ The Clerk read applications of the Superior Oil Corn an Th p p Y, e Cut curbs Wilshire Oil Co,the Richfield Oil Co, ' W P Treece and P B Hess to cut sidewalks and install driveways in front of their various properties,the locations of which_ is shown on their applications now on file in the office of the City_ Clerk, and on motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee narris.the City Engineer was I� authorized to grant permission for same. I The Clerk read petitions signed. by Edna A Eaton awner of lots 26 and 28 block 61�4•, and R E Post ovrner of lots 25 and 27 Block 250 ft 614 asking that drilling restrictions be raised within 256 feet of School of any school building and expressing a willingness that the drilling height of derricks be limited. Same wereordered filed -nwithout action. On motion b Trustee Mitchell seconded Y � ky Trustee Wharton the Bonds Bonds of the Star House Movers and enry J emmet were approved_ and ordered placed on file. o On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris the Absorption application of the 0 C Field Gasoline Company for permission to plant erect and operate a gasoline absorption plant on lots 21 and 23 B1 617 Block 617 was granted under supervision of the City Engineer. At this time the Clerk gave Ordina.nfle No 294 its second and Ord 294 final reading and on motion by Trustee arris seconded by Trustee Shank Ordinance No 294 was passed and adopted by the gollowing vote: Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Har-ris,Boster Noes Trustees None Sou Counties The Clerk read a Contract by and between the City of Huntington Gas Co lk¢ Beach and the Southern Counties Gas Company reciting certain Contract conditions under which the Southern Counties Gas Company was to x ' be allowed to furnish gas for Vhe drilling and operation of oil . wells in the City of Huntington Beach,and on motion by Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Wha.rton,put and carried same was accented. �$. Authorize On motion by Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Mitchell the Pres. of BrcPresident of the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach to sign was authorized to sign the aforesaid Contract for and on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach, by the following vote: Ayes Trustees Wha.rton,Mitchell,ShanY.,Boster Noes Trustees Harris. Absent Trustees None. Welding The written application of Frank H Barrett for permission to F� . erect and. operate a welding shop on Lot 10 B1 115 was on motion Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Wharton,deVed. On :notion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Shank Demand. -�, Demands numbered 6899 wa.s allowed. and ordered paid. 278 �f f 1 --mil-_ The application of the Ahlberg Gasoline Company and the Dry and wet gas Richfield Oil Company to lay dry and wet gas lines in the district line applications Westerly from 17th Street was on motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Shank denied for dry lines and approved for wet lines,work to be done under supervision of City Engineer. The Clerk gave Ordinance No 293 its second and final reading Ordinance 293 and on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded. by Trustee Shank Ordinance No 293 was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster, Noes Trustees None, At this time Mr J M 'Oerkley representing the Southern Counties Gas Company asktd and was given permission to address the J M Berkley of Board relative to :the purchase of the City 's Gas Distribution Sou Co Gas Cc system, Mr. Berkley stated that he was authorized by thee . :,; addres�:es Board Southern Counties Gas Company to at this time offer the City of j Huntington Beach the sum of 75,000.00 for its gas distribution f system complete. Also that the Southern Counties Gas Company ac-reed to enter into an agreement whereby the City would receive 11 cents per 1,000 cubic feet for all dry gas furnished or carried by the lines of the Southern Counties Gas Company for the purpose of drilling or operating oil and gas wells within the City limits. Furthermore; that the Southern Counties Gas Company was willing and agreed to guarantee the maintenance of a uniform i Rate gua.rabtee gas rate in the City of Huntington Beach the same as the Orange County rate. 1 On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell Health Dept the report of Dr V G Presson was accepted and ordered placed on file. On motion by Trustee Mitchell,seconded by Trustee Wharton Special permits are to 'be issued temporarily and under the Spl permits supervision of the Health Department to those restaurants oil field cafeeperating in the new oil field where serer and other sanitary service is not available. The Clerk submitted a list of unpaid licenses covering derricks erected and operated. by the Standard Oil Company,and Standard Oil CInformed the Board that this Company had failed to respond to unpaid li,censenotices to pay. On motion by b Trustee Harris seconded by Clerks report Trustee Shank, put and carried the City Clerk was instructed to to Board spread a copy of the report of unpaid licenses on the minutes of the Board and submit a copy of said report to the City Attorney with instructions to take such action as required to collect that wgich is due the City of Huntington Beach, On motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee Mitchell the Re-Bus fare City Clerk was directed- to write the Railroad Commission of the er in City State of California requesting .that Body to take. such action as necessary to require the Motor Transit Company to reduce it-s rate in the City limits of Huntington Beach to a flat charge of 10 cents instead of 15 cents now charged. _ The Clerk read Resolution No 562,same being a Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the City of Huntington Beach declaring Resolution that the public interest and necessity demand the sale of a public 562 Utility owned by said City,to-wit:the Municipal Gas Plant and Works, Gas Plant sa.leand on-motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Shank y proposed Resolution No 562 was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster Noes Trustees None ' On motion bya Trustee W rt seconded by Trustee Mitchell { the Board adjourned. With the exception of the Standard Oil Company and the Associated Oil Company we have had little difficulty in collecting.
