City Hall January 3rd,1927
The regular meeting was called to order at 7.:30 o�cl.ock PM by
President Boster.
Trustees present: Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster.
Trustees Absent : None
President Boster invittd those in the audiance,having matters
to bring before the Board,to do so at this time.
Cgef Tinsley Chief of Police Tinsley called attention of the Board to the
need of additional Police protection, and especially, in the
addresses Board traffic department, stating that it was impossible for one motor—
cycle officer to properly patrol the City, and recommended that an
additional otfioer be employed immediately and that the City
furnish him with a an automobile, roadster preferred.
r Thereupon, on motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee
Additional TrafficShank, the Chief of Police was authorized to employ an additional
officer employed Traffic Officer immediately.
On motion by Trustee Wharton,seonded by Trustee Shank, the
Police Matron salary of the Police Matron was increased to $150 per month, this
salary increseo on recommendation of Chief Tinsley.
On motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee Shank, tha
Advertise for City Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the
City Police Department with a new six cylinder roadster; same to
cat for traffic meet with the approval of -the Chief of Police.

On motion by Trustee Shank,seoonded by Trustee Harris, the City
Advertise for Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the City
Fire Department with. a 1k to 2 ton truck chassis, and to offer as
chemical wagon part payment the Ford-1 ton truck and chemical tanks as part
1 truck chassis. payment on the new truck.
At this time the Clerk read the monutes , for the month of
Minutes for .De— December; and on motion by Trustee Mitchell, .seconded by Trustee
Wharton, same were approved as read.,

On motion by Trustee Harris,seconded by Trustee Mitchell, - the
` Cut curb application of- the Wilshire Oil Company to cut curb and install
driveways in Blocks 115,120,217,215,219 and 320 was referred tt
the City .Engineer,with authority to grant permits for--same.
On .motion by Trustee Harris,seconded by Trustee Shank
L T dells store authority was given the Building Inspector to issue permit to
L T Wells to erect a store building,size 14 x 24 feet on lot
Bldgppermito 10,31ock 608.
On motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee Harris,the
Lamp -Post City Engineer was authorized to replace and install ornamental
lamp pos$ Lot 5 Block 118 and bill same to Wilshire Oil Company
as per their work order No 21590 dated December 21st,1926,
The Clerk read reports of the City Clerk,Treasurer,Recorder
Monthly reports. and Engineer for the month of December, and on motion by Trustee
Wharton,seconded by Trustee Shank,same were approved and ordered
filed.
On motion by Trustee Shank,Seconded by Trustee Mitchell the
Bond. Surety Bond of H M Massey to engage in the plumbing business was
approved and ordered filed.
The Clerk gave Ordinance No 295, repealing Ordinance No 257,
Ord No 295 its second and final reading and on motion by Trustee Wharton
seconded by Trustee Shank,Ordinance No 295 was passed and adopted
by the following vote:
Ayes: Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster.
Noes: Trustees None
Resod #563 The Clerk read Resolution No 563 authorizing the City Engineer
to prepare and submit plans,profiles and specifications for the
installation of a sanitary sewer system on the East Side, and on
motion by Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Wharton, Resolution
N0 , 563 was passed and adopted by the following voter
Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster:--

The Clerk read Resolution No 564 adopting plans and specifications
for Assessment District No 21—B and on motion by Trustee Shank,
Reso564 seconded by Trustee, Mitchell Resolution No 564 was passed and
adopted by the following vtte:

Noes, Trustees None.

The Clerk read Resolution No 565, same being a Resolution
of Intention of the Board--of Trustees to order the installation
Resolution No 565 of .a sanitary sewer system on the East Side, Vista Del Mar
section. On motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee
Shank, Resolution No 565 was passed and adopted. by the following
vote:
Ayes Trustees Wharton..Mitchell,Harris,Shank,Boster.
Noes Trustees None
The Clerk read Resolution No 566, instructing the City
Resolution No 566 Engineer tt prepare and present plans,profiled,cross-sections
and specifications for the installation of an Ornamental
lighting system along both sides of portions of Huntington
Avenue. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Shank
Resolution No 566 was passed and adopted by the following vote: ,
Ayes Trustees Wharton.Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster,
Noes Trustees None.
The Clerk read Resolution No 567 of the Board of Trustees
Resolution No 567 , adopting plans and specifications for the installation of
an ornamental lighting system along Huntington Avenue and on
motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee Shank, Resolution
No 567 was passed and adopted by the following vote:.
Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster

The Clerk read Resolution No 568, same being a Resolution of
Resolution No 568 Intention of the Board of Trustees to order the installation
of an ornamental lighting system on and along_ portions of
Huntington Avenue. On motion by Trustee Shank,seconded by
Trustee Harris,Resolution No 568 was passed and adopted by the
following vote:
Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank, Harris, Boster;
Noes Trustees None.
' The City Attorney submitted and read a petition for A
R R Commission hearing befote the Railroad Commission of California, 4
petition for hearing. relative to abandonment of the crowing at Indianapolis
Street and opening a crossing at Heartford Street, and
Crossings. on motion by Trustee Harris,seconded by Trustee Mitchell same
was approved as to form and the City Attorney was authorized
to file same with the Railroad Commission.
At this time the Clerk gave Ordinance No 296, calling a
Ordinance No 296 Special Municipal Election for sale o� the Gas System its
first reading.
The Clerk gave Ordinance No 297,making certain changes in the
Ordinance No 297 Business and Residence District of the City, and especially
within 250 feet of any public school building its first reading.
A motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee Shank to
increase 11 salary of increase the salary of the City Attorney in the amount of $50
per month and increase the salary of the City Attorney s
City Attorney and his stenographer in the amount of $25.00 per month,both effective
stenographer. as of January lst,1927,was put and carried by the following vote:
Ayes Trustees Wharton,Ritchell,Shank,Boster
Noes Trustee Harris.
On motion by Trustee Harris,seconded by Trustee Shank, the
salary of the City Recorder was raised to $125 per month.
increase salary of commencing January lst,1927 by the following vote:

On motion by Trustee Wharton,seconded by Trustee Harris,
Demands Paid demands numbered 6900 to 7056 inclusive were approved and
ordered paid.
On motion by Trustee Shank,seconded by Trustee Harris,
To amend Trucking City Attorney was instructed to draft anc'. Ordinance
amending Ordinance No 293 so as to read $5.00 for moving-
theOrdinance a single private garage, motion put and carried by the
following vote:
Ayes Trustees Wharton,Mitchell,Shank,Harris,Boster;
Noes Trustees None
Motion by Trustee Narris,seconded by Trustee Mitchell,
Same as above that the City Attorney be instructed to draft an Ordinance
amending Ordinance No 293 so as to read in part as follows:
"Fee of $5.00 for moving single private garages and $10 fee
for moving double private garages and three room houses" was
lost by the following Vote: Ayes: Trustees Mitchell,Harris
Noes: Trustees Wharton.,Shank,Boster.

Motion by Trustee Mitchell,seconded by Trustee Shank that the
City Engineer be authorized to confer with the Oil Companies
in the new oil district in the vicinity of 17th Street and
Clean up Sts endeavor to clean up streets and alleys immediately, end if
in oil field not done to proceed to close the operation of rigs until the
work is accomplished, was put and carried by the following vote:

Noes Trustees None.
On motion by Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Wharton the
Adjourned. Board adjourned until 7:00 o 'clock PM, Monday Jaunary 10th,1927.
