City Hall , June 6th, 1927.
The regular meeting was called to order at 8:00 o 'clock P.51.
by President Boster.
Roll Call Trustees present: iharton, ..Mitchell Shank; Har..r.i:s, -Koster`:; .
Trustees absent: None.
Read Minutes The Clerk read the minutes for the I4onth of May, and on motion
for May by Trustee Harris ,. seconded by Trustee Shank, same were approved as
read.
Surety Bond On motion by Trustee 1,4itchell , seconded by Trustee Harris , the y
for Surety Bond of City Recorder, Chris P. Pann was approved and ordered
Recorder filed. r
Favoring The Clerk read letters from a number of resident citizens and
Band business men recommending that a band be employed for the summer.
Resignation The resignation, of City Recorder, Andrew H. Wilson was presented
City Recorder and read by the Clerk, and on motion by Trustee Harris , seconded by
A. H. Nilson Trustee Shank, same was accepted and the Clerk instructed to express
the appreciation of the Board in, a letter of thanksto Judge Wilson.
Superior Oil- The application of the Superior Oil Company to erect power -lines
Co ' s request , in the vicinity of Ocean Ave . , was on motion by Trustee Harris ,
power lines seconded by Trustee Shank, granted, under the supervision of the City
Engineer.
The Clerk read monthly reports of the City Clerk, Treasurer,
Reports Recorder, Engineer and Health Dept , and on motion by Trustee Wharton,
seconded by Trustee Mitchell , same were accepted and ordered filed.
Open to At this time , 8:30 P. Id. , President Boster called on those in the
audience audience having matters to bring before the Board to do so .
Regarding John Whitefield representing the Chamber of Commerce asked that
local Band the Board consider the appointment of the local band for the summer
season. Sol Vhite also spoke in favor of the band being employed .
Bids for This being the time set for opening and receiving bids for the
Trash disposition of trash, the Clerk opened and read the following:

On motion by Trustee Harris , seconded by Trustee Shank, the
matter of award was laid over for the Clerk to investigate record
of the applicants .
The matter of employing a band for the summer was again brought
E m-oloyment up for discussion. Will Gallienne addressed the Board and called
Of attention to the favorable publicity gained. in the. past for the City
Band by the Huntington Beach Band . That he now had the best talent ob-
tainable and that the Band could not be held together without employ-
went. Trustee Harris recommended that a local band be formed. of
high school students. Motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by
Trustee Mitchell to employ the band for fifteen concerts , including
July 4th, Labor Day and Armistice Day at $180.00 per concert was put
and carried by the following vote :
Ayes : Trustees lv+harton, 14itchell , Shank and Boster
Noes: Trustee Harris.
Relative to This being the time set by the Board for receiving and opening
grand-stand, bids for the construction of a grand-stand for the night base-ball
base-'ball performances , the Clerk opened and read the following bids:

I . C. Warner and on motion by Trustee Shank, seconded by Trustee Harris ,
gets all bids were rejected except that of 1. C . Warner, and that of
Contract I ,iC . 'darner accepted by the following vote :

Noes Trustees: None .
On motion by Trustee '�Vharton, seconded by Trustee Harris
Demands demands numbered 7738 to 7889 were approved and ordered paid .
The Clerk read a petition signed by interested property
Petition by owners along Main Street , asking that a vitrified clay pipe sewer
property be installed in the alley of Block 810; The matter was referred
owners , to the City Engineer for report .

At this time Ordinance No . 305 pertaining to licensing
Ordinances certain businesses was given its first reading. Also Ordinance
#305, 306 No . 306 , compensation of City Recorder was read the first time .
Issuance of Resolution No. 590, providing for the issuance of Bonds
Bonds for the Improvement of Huntington Ave . was read by the Clerk, and
Huntington on motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Mitchell , same
Ave. was passed and adopted by the following vote :
Ayes Trustees: Wharton, 1,2itchell , Shank, Harris , Bostex
Noes Trustees; None .
Ornamental The Clerk read the estimate of the City Engineer for
Lights , the installation of ornamental lighting along Main Street , No
Main St. action was taken.
Acceptance On motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee Shank,
of the City Attorney was directed to take the matter of acceptance
Utica St . of Utica Street up with the High School Board and report back at
the next regular meeting.
Donation for On motion by Trustee Vharton, seconded by Trustee Shank,
4th of July the amount of $800.00 was pledged toward the expense of a Fourth
celebration of July celebration, including fireworks for the evening.

Painting Wharton, the City Engineer was instructed to prepare specifica-

On motion by Trustee Wharton, seconded by Trustee
Adjourned Kitchell , the Board adjourned until 7;30 P. 11. , Monday, June
20th.
