City Hall , Aug. 8th, 1927
Pursuant to adjournment, the Board was called to order at
7:30 PM by Mayor Boster.
Moll Call Trustees present: Wharton, Mitchell, Harris , Boster.
Trustees absent : Shank.
_ Mr. R. D. Crinshaw, Accountant addressed the Board relative
Auditing of books to auditing the City records and after some discussion on motion
deferred by Trustee Wharton a,econded by Trustee Mitchell the audit was
deferred until a later date.
On. motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Mitchell the
Purchase heater City Controller was authorized to purchase a 60 gallon water
for Camp ground heater for the Municipal Camp Ground.
On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Wharton the
Reservation made City Clerk was directed to make reservations for the City Engineer,
to attend Calif. City Attorney, City Deputy Clerk and. at least four Trustees to
league of Mun- attend the California League of Municipalities Sept. 19th to -,E5%h
icipalities at Sacramento. zL�d
Trustee Mitchell Mayor Boster appointed Trustee Mitchell on the Finance Com-
on Finance Com. mittee in the absende of Trustee Shank.
Mr G H .House and Warren Bristol addressed the, Board relative
to Ordinance"'No 294, stating that they thought the license rate of
$100 per annum `was too much and prohibited small dealers from
Protest Ord 294 making deliveries.'•,They were informed that a new license Ordinance
was now being prepared and if in order the rate would probably be
lowered.

This being the time set by the City Clerk for hearing

Trustee Harris same was passed and adopted by the following vote;

Report of duties of The City Attorney submitted a report on the various duties
City Eng. & Supt . of City Engineer , and Supt of Streets as outlined by Statute and
of Streets City Ordinance. No action was taken.
On motion by Trustee Harris , seconded by Trustee Wharton the
license of George Du Bourdieu to operate a boat landing at the
Municipal pier was cancelled for the reason that he had failed
License cancelled to. pay the license fee and otherwise fulfill the terms of the
Geo . Du Bourdieu contract, and on motion by Trustee Mitchell seconded by Trustee
Harris the Chief of Police was directed to place lock on the pier
landing and post a notice of cancellation of permit , of ter which '
the Cizy Clerk was directed. to return insurance policy to Patton
& Co.
Tne Clerk read a letter from J H West requesting the council
to pass an ordinance declaring the non payment of wages by oil
companies to be a nuisance. Mr West also submitted a, copy of the
J H West requests ordinance propesed. by himself. The Chair informed him that upon
new Ord. no actionadvise of the City Attorney the Council was unable to pass sudh
taken an ordinance and make it effective. .No aot .6h was taken by the
Board.
Demands paid On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris
Demands numbered 8185 to 8209 were approved and ordered paid.
The Clerk read a letter from the Southern Pacific Railway
Letter from Co. relative to crossing at 11artford and. Indianapolis streets , and
So. Pac. R R on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell the Clerk
was directed. to write the S P Cc advising that proceedings were
under way and hearing set for Sept 6th at which time it was hoped
(Minuteg Aug. 8th, 1927)
to complete proceedings and authorize the Mayor to sign agreement.
The following motion by Trustee Mitchell seconded by Trustee
Harris , put and carried; "That upon delivery of the necessary deeds

streets as follows ; South(. 30 feet lots "A" and "B" Block 1007 , North
certain streets 30 feet of Block 907, West 30 feet of Lot "A" Block 1009 and the East
30 feet of Lot "B" in Block 1007 , Vista- Del Mar Section 7"
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris the
License to operate application of Jim Ballard to pperate pool and billiard hall at 117
' pool hall p granted° Main st. was approved and license authorized.
On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell the
Controller was authorized to purchase a moiler for the City yard in
Purchase boiler fdr the amount of $395 without advertising for bids. The same being an
City yard emergency and delay would be expensive to the City.
The Clerk gave Ordinance No 308 repealing Ordinance 292 its
second and last reading and on motion by Trustee Harris seconded by
Ordinance #308 Trustee Wharton Ordinance No 308 was passed and adopted by the foll-
last reading owing vote;

On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris the
Band to play at Municipal Band is authorized to play afternoon and evening concerts
County Fair at the county fair at a total cost of $265 to the City' of• Huntington
Beach.
On motion by Trustee Mitchell seconded by Trustee Wharton the

On motion by Trustee Mitchell , seconded by Trustee Wharton,

On motion by 'Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Mitchell the
City Clerk was directed to notify Mr Chandler of the health depart-
