Tlie regular meeting was called to order at 8:00 O' clock
PM by Mayor Buster.
Roll call Trustees present: Wharton, Mitchell , Shank, Harris , Buster.
Dr Chandler of the Orange County health department add.reased
Health contract the Board relative to the service rendered the City in the past
submitted year and submitted contract in triplicate dated Sept 7th and
running for a period of one year. No action was taken by the Board.
J K McDonald addressed the Board stating that he was one of a
committee from the Chamber of Commerce recommending that the City
purchase and install signs on boulevards leading into the City and
C Of_ C recommends on the Municipal Pier. That the cost of large wood signs would. be
installation of approximately $400 and Gas signs $1400 to $1600 each. The Board
signs on blvd.Ixpier recommended that he take up with City Engineer Rosson and report
at meeting of Sept 12th.
Mr C P Patton representing the Chamber of Commerce asked the
City for permission to have a putting green installed in B1ock .505
Ask permission to and that the City stand the expense to the amount of A250. The
install putting Chair recommended that this matter be checked up by the Committee
green B1. 505 and Mr. Rosson City Engineer and report recommendations at meeting
Sept 12th.
Secretary Denslow of the Chamber of Commerce informed the
Adv. Dept. typewriterBoard. that the typewriter now in use by the City Advertising
in bad shape Department was in bad shape and asked that the purchase of a new
typewriter be allowed,. No ., action was taken.
Harry Stevens complained about poor service of the ':trash
Poor service of collector and was informed that a change of collectors would A
trash collector probably be made immediately.
The application of the Standard Gasoline Company to lay
Dry gas line permit dry gas lines was on motion by Trustee Mitchell , seconded by
Stan. Gas. Co. Trustee Harris granted by the following vote:
Ayes Trustees Wharton, Mitchell , Shank, Harris , Boster.
Noes Trustees None.
Minutes read and The Clerk read the minutes for the month of August , and
approved on motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris same
were approved as read.
The Clerk informed the Board that this was the dayset for

City Engineer bids were referred to the City Engineer to analyze and report at
next meeting, September 12th, 1927. '
The City Clerk read a petition signed. by interested property
owners asking that the Board of Trustees call a mass meeting for
the purpose of discussing Main Street Lighting procedure. On motion
Petition to discuss by Trustee Shank , seconded by Trustee Mitchell the City Clerk was
Main St . Lighting directed to advertise one time in the Huntington Beach News to the
procedure. effect that the Board would on Sept 12th at their regular adjourned
meeting in the Council Chamber , allow discussion by interested Y

This being the date set for receiving bids for the installation

The Clerk then read Resolution of award No. 599 , rejecting all
Res. of Award 'other bids and accepting the bid of Lana Contracting Company.

On motion by Trustee Harris , seconded by Trustee Mitchell
Res.#599 passed Resolution No 599 was passed and adopted by the following vote :

The Clerk read a letter from the World Petroleun Company of
World Pet. Co . Los Angeles submitting a lease do the City dump ground for the
submits lease to purpose of drilling for oil. The terms being $50. 00 per month rental
City until drilling operations commenced, and agreeing to start drilling
as soon as production was had within 300 feet of the property. After
some discussion the Chair instructed the Clerk to advise the World.
Petroleum, Co that the Board did not at this time care to enter into
contract.
The Clerk read a letter from Mr D C Cable of Venture Oil
Investigate im— Company protesting against fmp�roper use of the City ball park'. , that
proper use of irresponsible boys were damaging the improvements . The matter was
ball park referred to the Chief of Police to investigate , and arrest anyone
attempting to damage city property.
Bonds ordered On motion by Trustee Mitchell seconded by Trustee Shank the
filed surety bonds of 0 B Dart , house mover ; Bucey House Moving Co; and
Th,.yne H Long, Plumbing Contractor were approved and ordered:'filed.
The application of Max Schenfield to erect a sign at 13th and
Sim at 13th & Main Streets not in accordance with dxisting City Ordinances was on
Main denied . motion by Trustee harton seconded by Trustee Harris , denied.
Trash contract On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Shank , the
c:amcelled. trash collection and disposal contract of V B Hartunian was can-
celled on account of failure to live up to terms of contract and
furnish bond by the following vote:
Ayes Trustees Wharton, Mitchell , Shank , Harris , Roster.
Noes Trustees None.
St. Supt . totake On motion by Trustee Mitchell seconded by Trustee Shank the
charge of trash Street Supt was directed to take charge of trash collection and
collection disposal until further notice from the Board.

Demands paid On motion by Trustee Wharton seconded by Trustee Harris
demands numbered 8210 to 8384 were approved and ordered paid.
The Clerk read Resolution No 600 fixing the tax rate for the
fiscal year 1927-1928, and on motion by Trustee Shank seconded by
Res # 600 passed Trustee Wharton same was passed andadopted by the following vote:

closing & opening une closing of Indianapolis Street and the opening of Hartford St the

notify the Southern Pacific Railway Company.
Hold payment of On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Wharton the
demand of V g City Clerk was ordered to hold up payment of demands by V B Hartunian Y
Hartunian until further notice.
The Clerk informed the Board that complaints had been made
concerning the classof building and the manner of delivery of
gasoline to auto-miobiles by the Wilshire Oil Uompany to the effect
Wilshire Oil Co . that the storage building was not in accordance with ordinance and
building not in that said company was using the City side walk for delivery purpose./
