The first order of business was the appointment of a Trustee to frill the vacancy caused by the death -of. Trustee Wharton. Chas J Andrews Motion by Trustee Harris , seconded by Trustee Shank that X appointed Trustee Chas J Andrews be appointed was put and carried by the foll- owing vote: Ayes Trustees Mitchell , Shank , Harris , Boster. ' Oath of office Thereupon the oath of office was administered by the City Y Clerk and Trustee Andrews took his chair in the council. No response from J. The Clerk read a letter from Joseph Vavra stating that Huntington Beach by popular subscription had paid. only City makes up diff- $420.64 on an allotment of $750 for Boy Scout work in Orange erence for Boy Scout County and asking that the City make up the difference amount- fund ing to$329.36. On motion by Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Harris , put and carried the request was granted and warrant signed for the amount asked for. Trustee Shank stated that the Southern California Edison So . Cal . Edison Co. Company had requested permission to erect electric light pole request permit to in parking near corner of 6th and Ocean Ave and extend wiring erect pole across Ocean Avenue at that point. On motion by Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Harris the Street Supt was authorized to issue permit, providing pole be set back on line with residences. On motion by Trustee Shank, seconded by Trustee Harris , Install putting the City Gardiner was directed to install putting green on City green property adjoining and just north of the City Auditorium. The matter of furnishing a typewriter for the City adv- Typewriter for Adv. ertising department at the request of the Secretary of the Dept. - tabled Chamber of Commerce was tabled for want of second,, to motion - - to furnish. The Clerk read a letter form Secretary Denslow of the Additional mail ser- Chamber of Commerce in which the Board was ad-vised .of the vice to Santa.. Ana additional mail service between this City and. Santa. Ana and. & Los Angeles Los Angeles secured through the efforts of the C of C. The Clerk read a letter from the City of Fullerton in- City of Fullerton viting the City officials to enter the Armistice day parade invites officials to Nov llth. The Clerk was directed to advise that all officials Armistice parade would be there and would enter approximately six- automobiles. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Shank the Associated Oil Co . Associated Oil Company was given permission to erect sign on permit to erect sign City property at a rental of $7. 50 per year. Sigh to be:-erected on City property under the supervision of the City Engineer. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Shank the Cancellation of con- Mayor was authorized to sign cancellation of contract withthe tract with P E Ry Co. PE Ry Co. for gas pipe line crossing. This being the time set by the Ci+y Clerk for hearing on the Delaware and other Streets sewer bond. issue , the Clerk Resolution No . 601 informed the Board that no protests had been filed, whereupon passed and adopted Oesolution No 601 ordering 11the Bonds on uppaid assessments was read- and on motion by rustee Shank seconded by Trustee Mitchell same was passed and adopted by the following vote; Ayes Trustees, Andrews , Mitchell , Shank, Harris , Boster. Noes 'Trustees, None On motion by Trustee Mitchell seconded by Trustee Harris Surety bond approved the surety bond of C C Dunbar , electrical contractor was approved and ordered filed. City Engineer was directed to proceed and lay out and install grounds Block 505 tennis court and croquet grounds oniBlock 595, corner of 6th and Main Streets.
