Roll Call Trustees present; Andrews , Mitchell , Shank, Harris , Boster. The Clerk read a letter from the Mayor of Long Beach in- viting the Board to attend the Harbor Chamber .of Commerce meet- Letter from Mayor ing at Long Beach Thursday Oct 13th. No action was taken. of Long Beach A letter from jfm Gallienne was presented and read by the. Clerk asking permission to employ additional men in the band, bringing the number up -to 38 men, for taking part' in the Employ additional Armistice day celebration in Fullerton, the City to bear ex- men in the band penses up to $290. On motion by. Trustee Harris seconded by for Armistice day Trustee Shank the request was granted. The request of the American Legion for an electric light ' on the street in front of the Legion hall was on motion by S.treet light in Trustee Shank seconded by Trustee Andrews granted and the Eng- fromt of Legion Hallineer directed to install same. The City Attorney advised the Board that in the case of the City of Huntington Beach vs Sherwood, a compromise settle- ment of $75 was offered the City. On motion by rl'rustee Shank City of H. B. vs seconded by Trustee Andrews the City Attorney was directed to Sherwood investigate further, and if found that this settlement was fair and the best way tb settle the matter to accept same for the Ci ty The Clerk read reports of the City Recorder , Engineer , Monthly reports Clerk and Treasurer, and on motion by Trustee Harris seconded filed by Trustee Mitchell same were approved and ordered filed. The Clerk read a letter from the Southern Counties Gas Company agreeing under certain conditions to take over the management of gas lighting Main Street. Also a letter from the So . Co . Gas Co.-' Chamber of Commerce endorsing the plan of installing ornamental RE . Main St. lights lights on Main street and paying for same from the General fund. No action was taken on either. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded. by Trustee Shank the Surety Bond On Bond of Miley Oil Co to enter into the electrical con- approved tracting business was approved and ordered filed. Determine cost of The City Clerk was directed to investigate and determine putting green cost of installing putting green and report at next meeting. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Shank the Purchase fertilizer City Controller was authorized to purchase 250 sacks of Bone and blood meal fertilizer for the City Hall lawn. This being the time set by the Board to award or reject bids for hash disposal , Trustee Harris made a motion to re- Trash disposal bids ject all bids except that of D T Hallicy which was lost for rejected want of a second. Trustee Shank made the motion that all bids except that of Jas T Agaf anian be rejected, which was also lost for want of a second. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Andrews St. Su- to collect all bids were rejected, and the Street Superintendent in- structed to do the work by day labor, motion put and carried trash by the following Mote; Ayes Trustees Andrews , Mitchell , Shank, Harris , Boster Noes Trustees None . This being the time set by the Board for accepting or rejecting bids for furnishing paint and painting the City Bids for painting Hall and Auditorium, on motion by .Trustee Harris seconded by City Hall �, Aud. Trustee Andrews all bids were rejected and the City Controller rejected authorized toi,purchase the paint to be specified by the City Engineer,and the work to be done under the supervision of the under supervision City Engineer who will also determine who is to. perform the of City Engineer work; motion put and carried by the following vote; Ayes Trustees Andrews , Mitchell , Shank , Harrisz,. Noes Trustees None On motion by Trustee Harris , seconded by Trustee Mitchell , 336 �tOthj � (Minutes O 1927) the matter of awarding bids for lighting Plain Street was deferred until meetingof October 17th, and that the City Award of bids for Engineer be directed to order all gas lights on 17th Street Main St lighting be discontinued, same to be replaced where necessary by deferred goose neck electric fixtures. Also to repair gas lighting line in parking between 14th Street and Mansion Ave. Motion Repair gas lights put and carried unanimously. On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Shank the City Clerk was "directed to advertise for sealed bids for Advertise for bids furnishing the City with a 1 , 12, or 2 ton truck and to for truck accept as part payment the Reo Truck now in use. Engineer to On motion by Trustee Harris seconded by Trustee Shank Secure price of the City Engineer was directed to secure and submit prices buffer machine on purchase of rental of a buffer machine for cleaning metal lamp posts. Open for discussion At this time 9:00 PM mayor Boster invited those in- the audience having matters to bring before the Board to do So' at this time. There was no response.
