HomeMy WebLinkAbout1927-12-05 346 MINUTES City Hall , Dec 5th, 1927 The regular meeting was called to order by Mayor Boster at 7 :30 PM. Roll call Council men Present: Boster , Mitchell , Andrews , Harris , Shank. absent None. Mr R D Crenshaw addressed the Council relative to auditing the City records , stating liha.t he could commence in the near future and R D Crenshaw to bring the audit up to Dec lst, then complete the records to date audit books about April lst , 1928, to much better advantage to.-' all concerned than to delay until April to commence the work , and that the cost would be the same to. the City. By unanimous consent of the Board Mir Crenshaw was authorized to begin the work immediately and to furnish an estimate of the totafA5itnvolved within a few days after the work is commenced. This estimate to be considered. by the Board before entering into a contract for the complete audit. Recess At this time 84 the chair declared a short recess to check demands . ' Meeting again called to order at 9 PM by I'layor Boster. Demands Nos 8839 On motion by Mitchell , seconded by Harris demands numbered to 9033 paid 8839 to 9033 were ordered paid, excepting demands as follows No 8948. . . . . . . . .$ 27.45 8976. . . . . . . . . 75.00 8998. . . . . . . . . 31.50 all covering meals furnished guests , officers and members of the Demands not approved Fullerton Band on November 29th, Councilman Harris of the Finance Committee declined to approve payment of these demands for the reason that he considered their payment misuse of City funds and un- authorized. by proper procedure. The chair thereupon appointed Councilman Mitchell on the Finance Board, who after having approved the demands moved that Demands approved same be allowed which was seconded by Councilman Andrews , put and carried by the following vote: Ayes Councilmen Andrews , Yrit hell , Shank, Boster. Noes Councilman Harris. The Clerk road the minutes of the Board for the month of Minutes for Nov. read November and on motion by Harris , seconded by Shank same were ' approved as read. The Clerk read monthly reports of City Treasurer , Clerk , Monthly reports police Chief , Police Judge and City Engineer , and on motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell they were accepted and ordered placed on file. The Application of Edna Campbell to conduct lunch counter on Lunch counter ap�li- 19th Street between Magnolia and Acacia !Avenues was on motion by cation approved Shank seconded by Harris approved. , The City Engineer submitted report on condition of the Municipal pier which was read by the Clerk and discussed by the Board. On motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell the report was Report on condition accepted"and the City Engineer according to his recommendation of pier was authorized to employ a diver to examine the pier piling and that an engineers report be made at an early date with result of the diver' s findings and any further recommendations t hough.t advisable by the City Engineer. On motion by Harris seconded by Shank I H Westmorela,nd was I H Westmoreland appointed. assistant license collector vkrith the provision that he appointed assistant be vested with police powers in so far as same r-nay be required in license collector. the preformance of his duties as collector and inspector:. No official action was taken butt the tree discussed opinion prevailed that all members would co-operate to make it a success. Stagnant water Ray Overacker addressed the Board complaining of the od.dr and near Del . Ave. unsightly appearance of the oil and stagnant water lakes in the vicinity of Delaware Avenue. There being no further business to be brought before the Council Adjourned on motion by Harris seconded by Andrews it adjourned until Dec 19th 1927 at 7 PN, City Clerk and ex-officio Clerk— of the Board of Trustees.
