Roll call Councilmen present: Andrews, Mitchell , Shank, Harris,Boster, The Clerk read a letter from City Engineer Rosson giving estimates for cpobt of tennis court and croquet grounds in B1 505 , as follovrs:� eennis court, $845 .40, Croquet grounds $125. 00, Cost of tennis and on motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell the report was court & croquet accepted and the tennis court estimate ordered filed. On motion grounds - orders by Mitchell seconded by Harris the City. Engineer was directed to install to set grade stakes and the Street, Superintendent directed to install croquet grounds in accordance with plans submitted. Engineer Rosson submitted a letter recommending that the Storm drains installation of storm drains at Main and Wesley be postponed, postponed and on motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell the work was ordered held up indefinitely. l The Clerk read a report submitted by Engineer Rosson Investigation of stating that an investigation was being made relative to the fire mains size of fire mains and other matters relative to securing better service for fire Mains and that a detailed report would be submitted to the Council in the near future. The Clerk read a ler�tter from Attorney L W Blodget to the Case of City of effect that the case of -the City .'of Huntington Beach vs Pacific H. B. vs Pac . Palis . Palisades Association relative to streets through the Methodist T Assin dismissed Camp Grounds had been determined by the Appelate court by dismissal of the appeal. The Clerk informed the Council that a number of painting contractors were delinquent in payment of their license,and ► Painting contra,c tort hat they gave as a reason that they were not contractors in delinquent the meaning of the Ordinance. The Council informally instructed the Clerk to check up on those who had submitted bids for con- tract work and use the-information as a help to determine whether of not they were contractors and if found correct to enforce payment. Res . of Planning On motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell the Resolution Board tabled of the Planning Board to restrict certain lots against oil well drilling was tabled indefinitely. On motion by Mitchell seconded by Harris the City Wire City yard Electrician was directed to proceed with the wiring and install- ation of lighting in thrCity yard immediately, and on motion by Harris seconded by Shank it was ordered that a seperate electric meter be installed for residence o6 the yard watchman. Information re. The Clerk read a communication addressed to Fire Chief fire mains Sargent from Richard Waldron, District Sectetary of the Board of Fire Underwriters in which information was given relative to the size of fire mains. No action was taken. At this time, 7:40 PM the-aMayor invited those in the audience having matters to bring before the Council to do so Called on aV-th s:-Itime. C J Porter asked the Council if it was required audience by law that all the money in the Music and Promotion fund be expended in the year in which collected. The Mayor informed Mr Porter that there was no such requirement. Ord #316 first The Clerk gave Ordinance 316, calling a General City reading Election on April 9th, its first reading at this time. Resolution No 606 providing polling places, election Res . # 606 officers, date and 'hours of election was read by the Clerk, passed & adopted and on motion by Harris seconded by Shank same was passed and adopted by the following vote: Ayes Councilmen Andrews , Mitchell , S%a.nk, Harris, Boster. a Noes Councilmen None. T ' �i t On motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell the Chief of Police was directed to communicate withall second hand Chief of Police to dealers and junk dealers and collectors and •require them to communicate -with report all suspicious property purchaled by them and that junk dealers et¢. the Chief acquaint such dealers with the requirements of all ordinances governing and see that Ordinances were complied with. Request for On motion by Shank seconded by Andrews action on the tractor deferred Stteet Superintendent's request for a. new and larger Tractor was deferred until a later date. Mayor Boster asked the Council if they had at this time any recommendations relative to repair of the Municipal Pier. After some discussion, on motion by Harris seconded by To secure cost of Mitchell the City Engineer was directed to secure estimated x special engineer to cost of employing a special engineer to investigate the pier investigate ier condition and make report to the Board in the near future. Engineer Rosson called attention of the Council to the Re: oulf all sewer outfall sewer plant and informed therm that there was a possibility of the City having to snake expensive repairs and changes in the not distant future. No action was taken. On notion by Mitchell seconded by Shank the Street Construct temp- Superintendent was directed to cut curb lots 1,36 Block orary street 301 and construct temporary street across same leading from Olive Ave, to Lake and Atlanta Ave, also to post signs to the effect that permission to use as street is revocable at any time by the Council. Motion put and carried by the following vote: Ayes Councilmen Andrews, Mitchell, Shank. r Noes Councilmen Harris, Boater. Watchman out on On motion by Harris seconded by Shank the Chief of Police Lot 11 Bl 118 and was directed tp put watchman on Lot 11 Block 118 and 21 & 23 21 &23 Bi 517 Block 517 to see that no personal property be removed by any one pending the payment of all city taxes on such property.
