Roll call Councilmen present: Andrews, Mitchell , Shank, Harris, Boster. The Clerk read the following applications: Fannie Stephens, to operate lunch stand at concessions Business applicatiKS and 23 Huntington Beach Co Bldg, Ocean front* Manons & Son, granted cafe, 416 Ocean Ave; Susana Champion, -Hotel 210? Main Street, and on motion by Shank seconded by Mitchell the Clerk was auth- orized to issue license in accordance with Ordinances in effect. Pool apolication The Application of Al Salton to operate pool and billiard granted parlor at 203 Main Street was on motion by Shank seconded by Mitchell approved. On motion by Shank seconded by Mitchell the Southern Counties So. Counties Gas Gas Company was given permission to back fill and tamp all paved Co . given permit .. street openings made by them so long as same was entirely satis- to back fill & factory to the Council and Street Superintendent , and to bill tamp paved streets the City at the rate of ,35 cents per square foot for such work. , The Clerk read a letter foom A B Chambers, Attorney in fact for William Brown, Redondo Beach, R ¢#1, Box 517, Phone 4973 Offer , to sell offering to sell to the City, Lots Lots & 18 9 and 10 Summit Tract. On . 9 motion by Andrews seconded by Harris the City Controller was Summit TR to (pity directed to reply to the letter and ask the owner to submit price for the consideration of the Council. On motion by Harris seconded by Shank the City Engineer and City Controller were directed to attend meeting with various Met. dater Act city representatives at the Breakers Hotel, Long Beach, 10 AM meeting Long Beach Wed�` February 29th to consider matters relative to the Metropolitan Water Act passed by the 1Q27 Legislature. Ord No 316 passed The Clerk gave Ordinance No 316 calling the General Municipal and adopted Election its second and last reading and on motion by Shank seconded by Andrews Ordinance No 316 was passed and adopted by the following vote: , Ayes Councilmen Andrewp, 1itchell, Shank, Harris, Boster. On motion street etc by Harris seconded by Shank the Chair was authorized to appoint a committee to investigate and report in the near future, The Mayor appointed Councilmen Harris and Mitchell to act with the City Engineer and City Attorney with instruction to investigate and report as soon as possible to the Council. City Engineer Rosson submitted a, letter form Burns-McDbnnel- Smith Consulting Engineers of 422 Western Pacific Building, Los Report from Eng- Angeles, in which they offer to examine and submit a report on the ineer re. condition condition of the municipal pier for $1,000, payable May 1st, or to of pier take in lieu 5% of the /total Bond Issue for repairs in the event same was voted on favorablO by the people in the near future. On motion '- by Harris seconded by Shank the Clerk was directed to acknowledge receipt of the offer and to write the Mercereau Bridge & Construction Co. of San Francisce asking them to submit estimate for examination of the pier structure. Request City to Ed Stevens appeared before the Board with request that the City stand part of the advertising expense for calling a mass meeting to pay part of meeadv nominate corididates for Trustees Ma:r. 1st.
