City Hall, mar 5 , 1928
The Council was called to order at 7:30- PM by Mayor Boster.
Roll cull Councilmen -oresent : Andrews, Mitchell, Shank, Harris, Boster.
On motion by Mitchell seconded by Andrews Map No 892 of
7Aap ,Jo 892 of J L McBride , converting certain lots in the vicinity of Talbert
J L ;dcBride back into acreage, was approved and the City Engineer and City
' approved Clerk authorized to sign on behalf of the City of Huntington
Beach.
J D MacDonald representing the Huntington Beach News
appeared before the Council soliciting the support of the City
H B Jews sol- in the Orange County Industrial special edition. On motuon by
icits surport of Shank seconded by Harris the City Controller was authorized to
the City for subscribe for one page at the rate of $100 and cooperate with
special edition Mr MacDonald in writing copy for the advertisement.
At this time the Clerk read the minutes for the month of
Minutes read February and on motion by Harris seconded by Andrews aame were
approved as read.
On motion by Shank seconded by Mitchell demands numbered
Dewands raid 9424 to 9570 were approved and ordered paid.

Vi C rill auceptedof W C Hill to engage in the Electrical contracting business
was approved and accepted.
The Clerk read reports of the City Clerk, Treasurer, Chief
Monthly reports of Police, Police Judge,_ Engineer and health Dept and on motion
by Mitchell seconded by Harris same were accented and ordered
filed.
The Clerk read a letter from A B Chambers Route 1, Box 517,
City makes offer Redondo Beach offering to sell to the City lots 9, and 10, Summit
{ on lots 9 & 10 Tract (Adjoining the City Yard) for a total price of $1000. After
Su,,aniit Tr. some discussion the Controller was directed to write Mr Chambers
-raking an offer of $600 for the two lots, clear title in fee
to be furnished by the seller.
The Clerk read a letter from the Boulder Lam Association
soliciting funds for the support of the construction of the
RS : Boulder I)am Boulder Dam. On motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell the
communication was ordered filed.
L Y teller The appointment of LaVerne F Keller as patrolman on the
patrolman police force, was, on motion by Shank seconded by Mitchell
confirmed and approved.
On motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell R A Chaffee was
R A Chaffee appointed deputy assessor - to assist in assessing personal property
deputy asse=.sor at the salary of $4.00 per day until further notice.
The matter of complaints against the manner in which the
city garbage is being handled was discussed and the Clerk directed
Discuss garbage to write the holders of the garbage contract to the effect that if
conditions more complaints were received the contract Mould be cancelled,
this on motion by Harris seconded by Andrews.
On motion by Mitchell seconded by shank Thursday March 15th
dar. 15 , �iolidaywas declared a City Holiday and the Mayor authorized to publish
a proclamation to that effect. This on request of Santa Ana and
other Orange Co. cities on account of the base ball meet in Santa
Ana that date.

CouncilnHarris asked Police Judge C P Pann to explain how
Delinque:�t finesdelinquent fines were collected. Judge Pann stated that he was,
he presumed, .held personally responsible in the event of non-
payment as a result of leniency.

journed until 7 PM, h2arch 19th.
