Council Chamber City Hall ,
March 19 , 1928
Pursuant to adjournment of March 5th the Council was called
to order at 7:00 o ' clock PHT by Mayor Boster.
Roll Call Councilmen present : Mitchell , Andrews, Harris,Boster;
absent Shank
Lodging, house The application of Mrs L M Balcome to operate lodging house
application at 498 loth Street was on motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell �
approved approved.
On motion by Andrews seconded by Mitchell the application of
Cafe approved Cora Careraga to operate cafe at 15th & Walnut was approved.
On motion by Mitchell seconded by Andrews the application of
Restaurant aprroved W H Whitmore to operate restaurant at 110 Main St was approved.
The Clerk read a letter from the Orange County Coast
Association outlining plans for an advertising campaign to promote
interest in the Orange County Coast and asking the City to
Advertising contribute the sum of $500 toward defraying expense of same.
campaign Some discussion followed and on motion by Harris seconded by
Andrews the request was. laid overtuntil next meeting of the Council
so that all members might have an oppertunity to check up on the
merits of the undertaking.
Councilman shank arrived at this time, 7:30 PH
The Controller advksed the Council that it would be
Lawn mower needed necessary to purchase a lawn mower for the putting green lawn. No
for putting green action was taken. Also that the audit of the City records was
being rra de by R D Crenshaw in accordance with previous agreement
Auditors with the Council .
On motion by Barris seconded by Shank the City Clerk was
directed to write the Orange County Health Dept and call their
Call attention to attention to the mosquitp nuisance and request ` tha.t some action
mosquito muisance be taken' to make conditions better by treating the stagnant water
in the low lands adjoining the City.
The Clerk read a, letter from A B Chambers relative to lots
Re: Lots adjoining adjoining the new city yard in which Mr Chambers was unwilling to
new city Vard.. accept the City' s offer of $600 in full payment for the lots, but
making a, counter offer of $800. No action was taken by the Council.
Objections to The Council discussed the matter of objections to Shell Oil h
Shell Oil Co - Co building a sales and distributing station adjoining the S P Ry
sales station tracks, but no action was taken.
To have flood light On motion by Harris seconded by Shank the Street Supt was
city yard at nights instructed to have flood light lit in city yards at night. r
The Chair with the consent of the Council instructed the
Remove palm trees Street Supt to remove two palm trees from in front of the
H. B Co. Huntington Beach Co. Bldg, 464 Ocean Ave. This at the request of
the H. B. Co.
On motion by Mitchell seconded by Shank theCity Clerk was
Burial expenses of directed to .draw warrant on the Treasurer' for' 33. 00 'to cover
infant- child of burial expenses of the infant child. of Mrs Allen Bell. Money to
Mrs Bell be taken from Music & Promotion Fund. J.-
Install light 9th On motion by Mitchell seconded by Harris the City Engineer
was directed to install electric light at 9th 0•s�n .�
& Ocean On motion by Mitchell beeorided by Shank the Street Supt '
Vacation, C J Yost C J Yost was granted 'a two weeks vacation.
