City Hall , Nov. 19th, 1928.
Pursuant to adjournment , the Council was called to order at
7 :30 PM by Mayor Bowen.
Councilmen present: Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Mitchell, Harris.
Traffic The Clerk gave Traffic Ordinance No. 322 its first reading at
Ord. 322 this time. .
Engineer Rosson submitted estivate of cost for installing
Ornamental ornamental lighting at the intersection of Main Street and Ocean
lightingat Avenue and recommended that the work be done. The estimate to-
Main & Ocean gether with plans and specifications were referred to the Street
`: Committee consisting of Conrad, Bowen and Harris for consideration.
.. A letter from Los Angeles Harbor Engineers, George F Nicholson
Municipal and E C Earle jointly relative to repair of the municipal pier was
pier repairs presented and read. This was referred to a committee composed of x
Butcher , Conrad and Harris for further investigation and report.
Attorney Blodget informed the Council that the president of the
Circular Business Men' s Association had made verbal request that nothing
Ordinance further be done in the matter of drafting an ordinance restricting
the distribution of circulars. Mr. Blodget was asked to secure
written instructions addressed to the Council to that effect.
Main St light- The Clerk was directed to secure written request from the
ing fr6ntof HighHigh School Board relative to lighting Main Street in front of
School High School building.
Engineer Rosson and City Controller C R Furr submitted a
Re. sale of recommend-ation that the City offer for sale the westerly 49 feet
portion of lots of lots 1, 3 and 5 , Block 301. On motion by Conrad seconded by'
1 ,3,5 ,B1 301 Butcher the City Attorney was directed to prepare the necessary
resolutions.
Reso. 616 The
_ Clerk read Resolution No 616 accepting deed to Utica
Utica St. Street westerly extension and on motion ;•by Conrad seconded by Harris
same was passed and adopted by the following vote

Noes: None
Derrick Bl. The matter of demolition of derrick on Block 711 was deferred
711 to next meeting.
City Attorney Blodget informed the Council to the effect that
Bond Chas Mills & Son were now willing to post bond for conducting a
Chas Mills new business as required by ordinance. Mr Blodget was directed. to
secure satisfactory bond and report back.
Replace trees On motion 'by Harris seconded by Mitchell the City Controller
in city-hall was authorized to imploy Geo W. Wardwell to replace trees and shrubs
park in the City-Hall park under the supervision of the City Controller,
the expense not to exceed the sum of $200. 00.
Delinquent City Attorney Blodget informed the Council that he was not
derrick license ready to render final decision in the matter of the legality of
collecting license on non-operative oil derricks. Matter held over
until next meeting of Council .
Payment for On motion by Conrad seconded by Mitchell the City Controller
` damaged Dodge was authorized to accept the sum of $230. 00 from the Automobile Club
Auto Insurance Company in full payment of damages caused by wreck on
Main Street .
C I,i Harpold The application of C M Harpold to maintain and operate junk
Junk apolicationyard at 815 Geneva Street was referred to City Engineer Rosson for
ILe1d up investigation and report.
H B News The petition of the Huntington Beach News for renewal of
advertising advertising contract was referred to committee of the whole.

:: . Stephenson The Clerk read a complaint signed by Harry Stephenson
510 Huntington Ave -of 510 Huntington Avenue to the effect that trash was being
trash complaint allowed to remain in the alley to the rear of his residence and
that smme constituted a fire menace. This complaint was referred
to Street Supt . Rosson and Fire Chief Sargent for investigation.
A sketch and memorandum requesting additional-.: drainage
Anderson drain by W E Anderson located near intersection of Delaware Ave . and
Delaware Ave. 17th Street was referred to St . Supt. Rosson. -
On motion by Harris seconded by Conrad, demands numbered 621
Demands to 625 were approved and ordered paid.
Noise MY Burleycamp of 215 - 12th Street addressed the Council in
215 - 12 th complaint against the noise nuisance caused by a. pumping well
in his block. He was ahked to file a v,Tritten protest si`,ned by
himself and other interested property owners r:ith the City Clerk.
