Councilmen present: Bowen, Conrad, Mitchell , Harris Councilmen absent : Butcher Harris on In the absence of Councilman Butcher the Chair appointed Finance Com. Councilman Harris on the Finance Committee. The Clerk read a letter from the. Southern Counties Gas So . Counties Company in which they proposed to repair the Main Street Gas Gas Co-re St. lighting system and furnish gas to the City as follows : Lights The City contribute 41,500.00 toward the repairs and continue on the present meter rate: The Southern Counties Gas Co. assume all cost of repairs and care of the system for three years at rate of 43. 75 per light per month , total 79 lights : or to furnish light and. all case for five years at rate of 93. 50 per light per month. No action taken by the Council. Engr. Rosson Engineer Rosson submitted a. report giving estimates and light report figures on both gas and electric lights. Also an analysis of costs for electric standards and lights if paid from the General Fund or by frontage assessment. Clerk' s analysis The Clerk informed the Council that petition asking for lights of petitions on Main Street to be paid from the General Fund contained 115 signatures , 84 of whom were property owners , and that the total assessable property represented was $332,510.00. That petition opposing payment from the Ge4al Fund contained 135 names , 99 of whom were property owners representing an assessed valuation of $218,005.00 Blodget explains Attorney Blodget informed the Council that there were four means of fin- methods of financing the lighting of Main St: ancing Main St. Lighting 1st. . .By frontage assessment 2nd. . .By district assessment rd. . .payment from the General Fund th. . .Part General fund and na.rt assessment TNith the consent of all members of the Council , the Chair Specifications instructed Engineer Rosson to prepare a set of specifications to be submitted to the Council for further discussion in the matter of lighting Main Street with electricity. z The Clerk read monthly reports of the Chief of Police , Police Reports Judge , Health Department, City Clerk, City Treasurer and City Engineer for the month of February and on motion by Conrad seconded by Harris same were accepted and ordered filed.. Boad of David On motion by Conrad seconded. by Harris the surety bond of P Laimd, Pluriber David, P LA.ng, plumber was accepted and ordered filed. Dog License The proposed dog-license ordinance submitted by Chief of Ordinance Police Steward. was referred to Attorney Blcdget for report at next meeting. License Ord. The Clerk informed the Council that copies of lroposed re- revision vision of Ordinance 309 , licaBes were being prepared for con- sideration by the Council. J K Sargent The application of fire chief Sargent to enlarge firemen' s fire hall im- quarters was laid over to a. future meeting and the Clerk instructed provements to notify Mr Sargent to meet and discuss the matter with the Council. Demands On motion by Conrad seconded by Mitchell ddma.nds numbered 1073 to 1078 were approved and ordered paid. Officer Shaffer The Council was informed that Motor Cycle Officer Shaffer wise injured. in motor was injlured. in a fall from his motorcycle this afternoon was in a cycle accident serio�is condition, but had chances of recovery. He had been removed to the Santa Ana Valley hospital after first aid treatment at the local hospital. 4`2 f. C of C The request of the Chamber of Commerce for the sum of asks for funds $419. 12 to defray expenses of 11 ,000 folders was referred to the Music and Promotion Committee. Coumcilman Harris was appointed to assist Engineer Uniform building Rosson in investigating the ad-visability of adopting a code uniform building code.
