HomeMy WebLinkAbout1929-03-18 M I N U T E S _ March l8th, 1929• > Pursuant to adjournment of March llth, the Council was called to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Bowen: Councilmen present: Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Mitchell , Harris. Engineer Rosson presented a set of specifications for Main Street ornamental lights which was read by the Clerk. A general discussion followed, in which the Council objected Specifications to the mention of a specific lighting unit in the specifications , for Main St. and on motion by Conrad seconded by Mitchell , the City Engineer lighting was directed to prepare copies of specifications and submit to T a number of prospective contracting bidders with the request that they meet with the Council at 7:30 PM, Monday March 25th and offer arguments in favor of their various products. Dog License In the absence of Attorney -Blodget the matter of proposed dog license was deferred. Parking Res. The bus parking resolution recommended. by Chief Steward deferred was deferred until next meeting. The Clerk submitted a, copy of proposed license ordinance Revamp License and same was referred. to a committee composed of Butcher , Conrad. Ord. and Mitchell for their recommendations. Fire Chief withdraws Fire Chief Sargent informed the Council that he was request for additionaalunable to, at this time recommend any changes in the fire dep- spa,ce in City Hall artment quarters. building Chief of Police steward reported that Officer Shaffer Officer Shaffer wac improving fast and that he would. be out of the hospital improving in the next few days. The Clerk read. a. letter from the Chamber of Commerce 4 asking for $419:.00 to reimburse that organization .for money C of C spent for advertising circulars. The letter was referred to the Music and Promotion Committee. Uniform Bldg. Councilman Harris asked for more time in which to invest- Code igate the proposed uniform building code. u Rig Guying Engineer Rosson asked for two more weeks time to prepare Ord. rig guying ordinancd.. On motion by Harris seconded by Butcher the ap;)lication of Service Station L J Lewis to cperate service station at the corner of Main St L.ic�fnse and Acacia Ave. was -approved.- Howard Rubid.oux The appointment of Howard Rubidoux as patrolman to succeed. patrolman Gene Belshe was approved. on motion by Conrad. seconded by Harris. The Clerk read a letter from E I Ames , proprietor of the Palm Ave. Boulevard Apartments asking that the palms along Palm Ave. be palms trimmed. This was referred to the City Engineer.
