City Hall July lst, 1929.

The Council was called to order at 7: 30 PM by Mayor Bowen:
Councilmen nresent•: Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Mitchell and. Harris:
'Minutes �`.
The Clerk read a summary of the minutes for the month of June
and on motion by Mitchell seconded. by Conrad same were approved.
On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher the following applications
for -license were approved:,-

The application of Jack tymburger to sell smoked fish from car LEI'
on street, July 4th, was on motion by Conrad seconded by Harris ,denied.
The Clerk read monthly reports of the Health Department , Chief of
Reports Police , .Police Judge , Engineer , Clerk and Treasurer, and on motion by
Conrad. seconded by Harris same were accepted and ordered filed.
Council again called to order at 9 : 10 PM by Mayor Bowen: I
Absent Councilman Mitchell. - f
Bids On motion by Conrad and seconded by Butcher the bid of Robb and.
Gallienne at their price of 1,612. 70 for complete set --of 6 wheels,
tires and tubes was accepted and all other bids rejected.. j
Ed Stevens presented a petition signed by a number of citizens
Pier asking that the municipal pier be extended 500 feet. The petition
was received a.nd. .the Clerk directed to analyze same and submit
report as soon as possible to the committee on municipal pier repairs , 4 '
0 F. Harris, for his further investigation and. recommendation. {
W A Greer addressed. the Council relative to repairs to boy scouts
Boy Scouts cabin and stated, that the estimated costs would be about �335.00.
Mr Greer was asked, to communicate with Engineer Rosson and. submit
further recommendations. ,
"n• motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher the request of the
Band American Legion for employment of the Holders Band for July 4th
at the price of ft8O.00 was �cpe ted. and the proposal of the
Huntington Beach Band to play� As rejected.

Firemen' s The matter of insuring Volunteer firemen' s cars' was continued. '
insurance pending report from Attorney Blod.get.

The application of Mr Nolan to operate concession game on the
License b=ach was approved. on motion by Bowen, seconded. by Conrad , put and
carried by the following vote: �
Ayes: Butcher, Conrad, Bowen, °
goes : Harris
Absent: Mitchell.
Demands On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher demands numbered �\H
1457 to 1560 were approved and ordered paid.
Councilman Harris informed the Council that he had consulted
Pier a number of. Engineers relative to repair of the municipal pier,
repairs but that no two seemed to agree as to the methods of repair work.
Mr Harris suggested that Mr Thomas Berry be employed to work with
Engineer. Rosson in making an examination of the pier structure , and

that in the meantime no action toward extending the pier be taken.
Mr Harris was asked to consult With Mr Berry and secure an
estimate of the cost of his services and report back to the
Council.
On motion by Butcher seconded by Harris , the City Clerk
City Clerk C R Furr was granted leave of absence during July Sth, 9th and
leave of absence loth.
On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher the Co.a.ncil
Adjourned adjourned. until 7: 30 PM Monday July 8th, 1929 .
