City Hall , November l8th, 1929
Pursuant to adjournment of November 4th, the Council was called
to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Bowen. '
Councilmen present: Bolven,Butcher ,Conra,d,Harris ,M.itchell.

Water line Engineer Rosson informed the Council that the American Service
17th St: Corporation were agreeable and ready to install new water main along
17th street !Trhere needed before the street is resurfaced.
The Clerk read a letter from Engineer Rosson, stating that the r
Pier Municipal Pier report was being delayed but would be ready for next
meeting of -the Council.
Engineer Rosson submitted. a written recommendation that derrick
Derrick Block located on Block 511 be demolished for the reason that it is unsa,fe
511 and. dangerous to person and property.
On motion by Conrad seconded by Mitchell the City Engineer and.
City Attorney were authorized and directed to take immediate action
to have the idle derrick on Block 511, known as the Taylor and.
Tucker derrick , declared a public nuisance and demolished..
Engineer Rosson was asked to prepare a report and submit at nexti,"
meeting of the Council , covering all unsafe derricks and structures.
Superior Oil The Clerk read a letter from the Superior Oil Company asking
Co . waste water that a permit be granted that Com-oany to drain waste water into the Y
ocean in the vicinity of 22nd Street.
On motion by Conrad seconded by Harris action was deferred until
Dec 2nd meeting of the Council , and. the Clerk directed to so advise
the Superior Oil .do.
The Chamber of Commerce submitted a copy of a resolution passed
Mosquitoes this date d.ecla,ring against the formation of a mosquito abatement
district and in favor of the abatement at the expense of the County
and by the County Health Board. No action taken by the Council.
Bond On motion by Butcher seconded by Harris the Surety Bonds of ._
C L Drouba.y C L Droubay and J D Sanborn, pluinbing contractors were accepted. and
J D Sanborn ordered filed..
The matter of a resolution relative to State license for
Oontra,ctors Contractors was referred to Attorney Blodget for further investigation
State Licnse and. report at next meeting of the Council.
The Clerk informed the Council that in the matter of complaint
Refinery Odor by W E Anderson against odors coming from certain oil refining_ and
cleaning plants near the City limits was being investigated and that
same would be taken up with the County Supervisers.

On motion by Conrad. seconded by Rutcber the license applications
License of J S Wynn, Used car dealer , Lindner Motors ; Used car dealer and
IN R Vail for garage were approved.
The request of J H Macklin for settlement on account of sewer
Macklin connection on Block 301 was laid over to next meeting and the Clerk
asked. to invite Nir Macklin to anpea.r before the Council on that date
for further discussion- .
The Clerk informed. the Council that the Huntington Beach Company
t Barking. had. not yet replied to a letter asking permission to reduce the
strip fain St parking in the center of Main street from 14-th Street to the City Limits .
Attorney Blodget ren_ resenting the American Legion addressed the
Council and thanked them individually and collectively for their
Armistice assistance in making Nov llth, 1929 the greatest ever offered.
_Ma�Tor Boren, in response , gave Commander Blodget and. his American
Legion assistants full credit for the successful celebration.
Pfir Blodget informed the Council that a full and complete report
of expenditures would be submitted at next -.meeting of the Council.

Demands On motion by Conrad seconded. by Mitchell , demands numbered
2105 -to 2117 inclusive were approved and ordered paid.
' Engineer Rosson informed the Council that he had issued _
Water dis- invitations to all the local oil operators to be present at a meeting
posal meetingin the council chamber at 2:99 o' clock PM Wednesday Nov 27th and.
asked that all members of the Council be present to discuss plans
for taking care of was"C. water from oil wells.
Mr Fredricks , representing the Press=. Felegra.m addressed the Council
relative to advertising in the Press-Telegram' s Midwinter Edition. He-
Press stated that his paper was esnedially interested in the development of
Telegram the South Coast and that with a regular circulation of over 55 ,000
daily he believed it would be to the interest of the City to carry a.
page of advertising in the Mid-Tinter edition. Rates 1400 per page ,
$225. 00 per half page and 1115.90 per quarter page. The matter was
referred to the `Music and .Promotion Committee for their recommendation.
On motion by Harris seconded by Mitchell the Council adjourned .
