City Hall, Monday April 21st, 1930.

Pursuant to adjournment of April 8th2 1930, the Council was
called to order at 7:30 p m by Mayor Bowen.
Councilmen present: Bowen, Butcher, Conrad, Mitchell , Harris.
Councilmen absent None

presented ,t3ie returne which were inspected and checked by the City
Council, whereupon the chair directed the clerk to read Resolution
No 629 , dedlaring the result of said election. On motion by Harris

R E S O L U T I O N
No 629
RESOLUTION INVOLVING GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD ON APRIL 14th, 1930, IN THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA:
WHEREAS, at a General Municipal Election was held and con-
ducted in the City of .Huntington Beach, California, on Monday the
14th day of April, 1930, as required by law, and
WHEREAS, it appears that notice of said election was duly and
legally given, that voting precincts were properly established, that
election officers were appointed and election supplies furnished
and that in all respects said election was held and conducted
and the votes cast thefeat received and canvassed, and the returns
thereof made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the
General Laws of the State of California governing elections in cities
of the fifth and sixth classes and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the said City met at the council
chamber of the said council on Monday the 21st day of April, 1930 to
canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected
officers, as the result of which the council finds that the number of
votes cast, the names of the persons voted for and other matters required
by law, to be as hereinafter stated.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:
That said Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City
of Huntington Beach, California, on Monday the 14th day of April, 1930,
in time, form and manner as required by law:
That there were four (4) voting precincts established for the
purpose of holding said election, consisting of a consolidation of the
regular election precincts established for holding general State and
County elections as follows:
Consolidated Voting Precinct "A", comprising State and County
precincts numbers One and Two:
Consolidated Voting Precinct "B" comprising State and County
precincts numbers Three and Four:
Consolidated Voting L'recinct "C" comprising State and County
precincts numbers Five and Six:
Consolidated Voting Precinct "D" comprising state and County
precincts numbers Seven and Eight.
That the whole number of votes cast in said City was Eight
Hundred Twenty (820)

That the names of the persons voted for, the proposition voted
upon, theoffices for which they were voted, the number of votes given
in each precinct to each of said persons and for and against said
proposition, together with the whole number of votes which they re-
ceived in the entire city are as follows:

RESOLVED THEREFORE, that at said General Municipal Election C.H.
KING was elected to the office of Councilman of ::The City of Huntington
Beach, California, for the full term of Four (4) years:
That E.E. STEVENS was elected to the office of Councilman of the
City of Huntington Beach, California, for the full term of Four (4)
years:
That the Proposition submitted to the electors to adopt an
ordinance changing the boundary line of Business District No. 1; was
not adopted.
The Clerk shall enter 'in the records of the City Council a
statement of the result of the election, showing, (1) The whole number
of votes cast in said city; (2) The names of the persons voted for ;
and (3) a statement of the proposition voted upon, (4) The office
for which each person was voted for; (5) the number of votes given at
each precinct for each of such persons, and for and against said propos-
ition, and (6) the number of votes given in said City to each of such
persons, and for and against said proposition voted upon.
The Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of such
persons elected a certificate of election, signed by him and duly
authenticated; he shall also impose the constitutional oath of office
and have them subscribe thereto, whereupon they shall be inducted into
the respective offices to which they have been elected.

I, C.R. FURR, City Clerk and ex-officio Clerk of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach, California, do hereby certify that the
above and foregoing Resolution No. 629 was duly and regularly introduced,
read, passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach at a regular adjourned meeting of said council held on the 21st
day of April, 1930, by the following votes:

Mayor Bowen announced that E. B. STEVENS And C. H. KING had
been duly and regularly elected city councilmen for the full term of
four (4) years, and that Proposition No 1 on the ballot had been duly
and regularly defeated.
The newly elected officers were then called to the Council table,
. to take the Constitutional oath of office which was administered by the
Clerk, and after signing the oath of office, Certificate. of Election
were delivered to each of the new members.
Retiring Council On motion by Conrad seconded by Harris the retiring Council
adjourned.

The new Council was called to order by the Clerk, who announced
that nominations for Mayor (Chairman of the Council) were in order.
New Council
organized 'Councilman Conrad offered in nomination SAMUEL R BOWEN, the
nomination was seconded by Councilman King, there being no further
nominations the Clerk was instructed to cast the unanimous ballot
of the Council for Mr Bowen.
Mayor Bowen addressed the Council and retiring members, ex-
Mayor Bowen pressing his appreciation for the hearty co-operation of all members

during the past two years and a desire that the coming two years
would be equally harmonious.
Short talks were made by retiring Councilmen Harris and Mitchell
and by the newly elected members King and Stevens , all expressing the
desire to work for the best interests of the City.
Mayor Bowen announced the appointment of the following Committees ,

The matter of building for the Boy Scouts was deferred pending

Beach camping Amendment to ordinance No 130 relative to camping on the

Minutes April 21st continued
at the -rate of $2. 50 per month was approved and the City Engineer
directed -.to proceed with installation of the service to the new
ball park.
Fire On motion by Stevens seconded by King, the Fire Chief was
extinguishers
directed to purchase and install two 2 gallon fire extinguishers
in the ball park grand stand.
The Clerk presented and read report of the audit make by
Biennial R D Crenshaw & Co covering period March 1st, 1929 to Fec 28th,1930,

and on motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher same was accepted and
ordered filed.
Derricks The matter of derrick demolition deferred to next meeting.
Planning Corn- No action taken on forming a City Planning Commission.

Engineer Rosson submitted plans and specifications covering
Pier proposed repair and extension . of the municipal pier, together with
his recommendation that same be checked by reliable consultant ,
engineer before adoption. Matter referred to the Pier Committee
consisting of Stevens, Conrad and Bowen for their recommendations
at next meeting.
Advertising On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher the city was authorized
to advertise in the Parent Teachers'. Journal to the extent of $10.00
The Clerk submitted and read Resolution No. 630 authorizing
Reso �630 the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a lease with the Huntington Beach
i Company on behalf of the City, covering ballpark near 1st and Ocean.
On motion by Conrad seconded by Butcher Resolution No 630 was passed
and adopted by the `following vote: `

The license applications of Wm Hall to conduct lunch stand at
License Concession #40 Beach front and E B Eldridge to conduct lunch stand
at 17th and Main Sts , were on motion by Conrad seconded by King,
granted and approved.
The application ' of the Huntington Beach Band for approval of

expenditures amounting to 03,466.00 was referred to the M & P Committee.
On motion by Butcher seconded by Stevens, City Clerk C R Furr

Vacation .was granted a two-weeks leave of absence commencing or or about Apl 3oth.
On motion by Stevens seconded by King, demands approved by the
